My understanding is it only applies to residents, but like Texas, they have reciprocity with nearly every other state.

Believe me, I'm not being a wiseass by asking this, but this question is for the guys that choose to carry daily.... What warrants you to carry 24/7? Are you transporting money? Been threatened in the past? Store clerk?... etc.

I'm all for firearms, but I have no desire (at least for now anyway ;)) to CCW...

... I've been curious about your thoughts/decision to CCW.

Same reason I keep straps in my truck, carry a knife, and plan ahead in so many other ways.

Do you carry fire suppression equipment on your airplane?
    Have you ever needed it?

Would you rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it?

Bad analogy... Suppression is required on comm. a/c. People are not required to CCW.

Do you keep straps, tools, fire suppression, first aid, road side emergency shit, etc etc in your truck then?

    Yeah, for conveinence.
    Ok, you win :).

I hear what you're saying, but I just never feared for my life to carry a weapon around wherever I go.

Maybe not yet, and hopefully not ever for you - but if the time comes, that is not the time to be realizing "man, I really should've got a CCW years ago".

You don't get to choose the time or place, you only get to choose your level of preparedness.

Neither have I... at least not in about 30 years.
Been a few times that I've been uncomfortable, but not in immediate fear.

I'd like to keep it that way.
I carry when and where I legally can including on my dirtbike off-road when I'm not in a state park.
Just waiting for some draconian procedures to be reduced before applying for a permit in my county.
I could apply and would most likely be issued now, but several items in the procedure are both illegal and somewhat invasive:

Neighborhood check. Some of my neighbors are among the reasons I want a permit. Some are felons. Only three of my neighbors even know that I own guns and I want to keep it that way. I don't need deputies "discreetly" knocking on doors asking questions about me.
They also do an employer check.
I work for a city, and the public works director is somewhat on the left of center. She doesn't need to know that I am applying.
I've passed the BATFE and FBI background checks to be issued an FFL.
I've passed the FBI and California DOJ checks to be issued a COE.

You say I am the exception. Let me ask you this: How many dealerships have you worked at, and how many dealerships have YOU personally been to and seen property theft? I have worked in several dealerships as well as visited several, and yes, I have seen in each shop that I have worked at a theft take place at some point or another (Admittedly by the minimum-wage staff). In each and every case where the theft was identified, the employee was fired, and the customer's property returned, and additional compensation awarded as well. To me that is enough to believe that I am NOT the exception, but one who follows the rules that I have seen take place.

The holding tank that we had is not just a general container. It is specifically designed to pump out and return fuel. we had one that was for diesel, and another that was for gasoline. The tanks were sealed units. No concern for contamination, so we were good. As many tanks as we pulled, there is no way we could afford to refill each vehicle with fresh fuel. The tank units were about $500 each as I recall, but well worth it.

And the automotive fuel is much less of a concern than jet fuel... You are talking about an entirely different situation there.

    stock, for now

Neither have I..But alot of people carry, just cuz they can.

I know if NJ ever passed the right to carry, I'd do it..Just to be prepared.

Never been in danger, but I do work around ALOT of money daily. I'd most definately carry to work.

I've been carrying for about 9 years, and since then I've had a stranger try to gain forced entry into my home late at night. My carry piece was in my pocket and I'm glad it was there. I could have just as easily been in my place of work, a restaurant, a store, etc.

Until robberies, theft and other violent crime is at zero %, I'll be carrying when and where I can.

I can gladly say that this type of stuff has been the exception. A friend had his car towed from an accident some years ago and it got raided by the tow lot..CDs, his cell phone, heaven knows what else.

I carry CDs in my truck a lot..standard procedure for me is to pull out my CDs, my GPS, my radio faceplate and remote (which is all I keep of value in it that's not bolted down). That said in my friend's case he was injured quite a bit and didn't have the presence of mind or ability (head lacerations and concussion) to grab his property.

BamaToy1997..good to see you are so hardline about such things. I would be as well. I figure someone who will steal from a customer would steal from me as a shop owner/manager too.

As an aside..I used to work as a building cleaner and we got blamed for EVERYTHING. One fellow when I was new accused us of stealing a fan in what came across as a rather snotty manner. I hadn't worked the night before but got the crew manager who talked to the guy and it turned out the fan had broken and the people in that area placed a large sign on it saying TRASH with tape, so as was procedure it was taken.

    All the time. :D

Just a heads-up... my original post in this thread already had it's fire die out before it got out of control. There's no sense in trying to relight it. :deadhorse:

    Just because I don't carry, doesn't mean I'm anti-firearms. ;)

I do all of those every day. I even work in a mall. I Still dont see why one would have to carry 24/7?

So tell me... You carry 24/7 and drop your kid off at school. What are you going to do? Drive back and hope the gunman is still shooting up the school in time for you, the lone ranger, to come save the day? Or maybe be the hero of the day to run through a mall to take out the shooter yourself?

    Lol serioulsy...

And BTW, this is not a personal attack against you, just anyone who feels they NEED to carry 24/7. (not people who carry in just their home and vehicle).
