I had mine on the day I drove off the lot. The dealer had a bunch of them inhouse....... same as the above post did.

I'm in the same boat. Bought my truck about 4 weeks ago. Haven't gotten my plates or registration. Dealer said it should take 2 weeks. I'm in Texas as well.

sounds like a dmv issue, not a dealer issue.

Normally I usually have plates in 2 weeks at the most. When I bought the Tacoma in May 2009, my 3 week temp tags were about to expire and still no plates. The dealer gave me a new set of temp tags anf they came in at about 3.5 weeks.

I don't like having the temp tags on, so I was not impressed with this myself.

i dont want to protect the dealers , but honestly it has varied for me from 1-5 weeks, on a motorcycle , my tacoma and previous trucks. DMV gets busy at times and small backlog . The dealer cant call you with the plates , until they have DMV send the plates to them first. It wouldnt surprise me though to find they misplaced paper work at times.

My tag transfer paperwork took about 5 1/2 weeks from purchase date until I got it in the mail.

I live in Oregon and bought my truck in Washington. Normally in Oregon you get your plates the same day but when you buy it in another state it takes weeks. It took about 6 weeks for me to get my plates. I think because the dealer waits until he has a bunch of them and sends them in all at once.

I live in PA but bought my truck in WV I was told 60-90 days. It took 90 days. I couldn't even get it inspected until then. I wanted to because I had a 3 month warranty on it.

agreed i don't like driving around with my temp tags on and just having my car sit in the parking lot for a long period of time...

just might be my mind not wanting my sh*t to get stolen :p

Just for the record, I bought my truck 2 weeks ago today. (Closed on the deal at 10 pm) and my tags just got here today! Average times should be 2 to 3 weeks!!

I work for a dealer in Texas. Temp tags are now good for 60 days and as a result the state drags thier feet. It is not your dealers fault, it is our slow state. It angers the dealers as much as it does the customer i can assure you.

Maybe Texas executed too many inmates last month and the short staff has caused a plate shortage.

In PA you have your plate when you drive off the lot. Takes a couple weeks to get your registration card and sticker for the plate.
