Bought a pair of reman CV joints and dealership parts guy told me it’s on back order bc Toyota doesn’t have many reman CV I would probably get NEW CV for the price of reman. Score

Interesting note. I just got a set of these and noticed the boots have a different count of ribs from my factory axles (see attached pictures) and both appear to be made of the same material (my thinking and the way it feels leads me to believe neoprene). If I do the boot stretching method for my lift config the Toyota sticker might be the only thing visible (bottom cv axle has inner boot stretched. Not outer) Just some things I noticed. I didn’t go with a reboot kit because the bearings have 170k on them.

    How did it feel/drive before?
I’m asking because I’m wondering if my CV axles need to replaced. There is a little play in the driver side. I’m getting some vibration around 40mph.

Just my 2c, I wouldn’t worry about play in the cv axle. If you’re getting a vibration it could be a multitude of things one being the needle bearing. My factory cv axles are shot at 170k and they vibrate, grind, and give the general symptoms of a bad wheel bearing.

If anyone else gets these and finds out they need to boot stretch for their lift see attached links to some high quality and much cheaper clamps than Toyota. You might get away with two sets of the CV38.5BAND9 clamps but this is what I used and I might’ve tightened the outer boot a little bit too much but at least it won’t slide back:D

I think it should be fine. Only thought I have is with these boots being longer than my factory ones is how close they will be to the shock. See attached pic of stock axles.

Pics of driver/ pass cv angles with stretched boot and side by side comparison with factory 170k axles.

I’m impressed! How much lift do you have if you don’t mind me asking.

It’s a toytec eibach/5100 lift and they claim 3 inch…. My guess after 60k I’m at or around 2-2.5inch. My cvs have always been at a good angle with no diff drop.

Has anyone ordered these recently? I placed an order and was told they are on backorder and couldn't tell me how long it would be. Anyone else experience this? How long was the backorder for you?

Just saw this thread after you posted, and it got my hopes up.

Bad news all around is... that QR code sticker posted on the first page? That's an A1 Cardone thing... makes me about 99.9% sure they were A1 Cardone with a Toyota sticker & PN.

And worse... I think A1 Cardone is killing their CV axle remanufacturing. I sold them at work, and we discontinued the remans, our new new ones are now Trakmotive. I'm not 100% certain Cardone killed the whole line, but other places I source from also almost never have any available anymore.

That's interesting because I was chatting with my local dealer and he was trying to get me to change my order and instead buy a Servicerite/Cardone reman that they had on hand instead of the Toyota reman. I currently have Cardone axles that I hate and want to replace. He told me that the Toyota remans are remanned by Toyota. I'm going to take that info with a grain of salt though until I actually see the axle.

I could be wrong, it could just be a coincidence, but that QR sticker in post #8 is dead nuts what I see on our calipers & boosters that Cardone remans, as well as Cardone P/S components I occasionally see. The 'lifted truck = no warranty' tag is the same too, and that Made in Mexico black sticker looks hella familiar too...

Awful lot of coincidences there to convince me that a manufacturer (who probably isn't even manufacturing their own CV axles) has their own remanufacturing operation, though. And that it's also coincidentally in the same country that other company (who totally isn't remanning ours) has their remanning operation.

Like I mentioned, I'm taking what the dealership parts guy said with a grain of salt. I still have the backorder open, but I also am going to exchange my cardone axle under warranty to get me by in the interim. If the Toyota "reman" is the real deal (doubtful), I'll go ahead and swap it in.
