Just what exactly does this mean in this situation? Or even here in forums in general? I suspect I know, but in my work environment, I think it’s got a different intent.

Plenty of vehicles used off road have drums.

They are not sealed water tight but sealed more so than disks. The idea of drums from toyota was that rocks and other larger debris that was still small enough to get into a disk that could cause issues will not get into a drum. But water and soupy mud will still get in.
You posted back in december of mud issues with brakes and from the sounds of it did nothing.

You're looking for sympathy and getting none of it as this was all your fault. EVEN if you did clean it there would have been plenty of warnings about the issues. I'm pretty sure its also mandatory for vehicles to have low brake fluid warnings now as well and I'd imagine a 2017 tacoma will have those warnings. You would have had warnings about this. This is your own fault, and you want a warranty to cover your abuse. Pay to play. You had plenty of warnings that could have had this be a much smaller repair or maintenance. But you didn't do it because the dealer wouldn't perform this stuff for free as none of it was a manufacturer defect.

Its because of shit like this that make getting warranty work so difficult now days. People want warranty for shit they caused, some dealers do it and then when the head company finds it they are often already out the money so just pay it. But it then gets to the point where they won't let dealers do warranty work without approval. I know one dealer that gave me a hard time with doing the transmission TSB mentioned it in front of me between advisors and manager that all advisers are authorized to approve $500 worth of warranty at their discretion, above that they need a manager and I'm sure after a certain amount it needs to go to Toyota unless there is a TSB for it. Regardless though this dealer gave me a really hard time about the TSB that another dealer ended up doing for me and solved all my issues.

Found out after from a family friend who worked for Chrysler for 12 years that all dealers have the same case if they do too much warranty work it will decrease the bonuses they get and also have them reviewed more by corporate to the point they can't do as much without approval.

I think it just explains how to use your truck 'off road' safely or properly.

I'd agree if OP had flipped the rig, snapped his axel/driveshaft, cracked his window, pinstriped the paint, or bent the frame by dropping it on a boulder... But, the brake gave out as a result of poor engineering, what if he lived on a dirt road? Should he have to have cut a hole in the floor-board and Flintstone the truck?Long story short i think Toyota should fuss up to their overall poorly engineered work and replace the parts that break/wear out as a result instead of giving you the run-around....

If it was so poorly engineered. Why doesn’t this happen more often?

I'm with you on this one, not sure how he lost all fluid. Pretty sure most newer brake systems have duel reservoirs. Sounds like he not only fail to address the problem early but also doesn't check his fluids regularly. But what do I know.
