    Pretty much. I will probably have a new truck by then anyways so hopefully it makes it that long.

    Ah, I’ve been hoping that my ‘15 is the last pickup I buy for 20-25 years... doesn’t help that Idaho just started using salt on their roads within the last couple of years. The county is going to hate me before too long with as much shit as I’ve been giving the highway commissioner.

    Chevrolet uses this method for coating truck frames;

    “The original anti-corrosion coating on most frames is a wax. The entire frame is dipped in hot wax, leaving an average 4 mil thick coating that's highly resistant to salt and moisture. Hot wax is favored over electrodeposition coating (E-coat) on frames for several reasons. The E-coat process requires the metal to be extremely clean, and the cleaning process is not easy on a full size frame part. Also, the heated wax flows into the many enclosed areas and corners of a frame easier than E-coat, which only adheres to areas that are electrically charged. Finally, the hot wax process is four times less expensive than the E-coat process.”

    I drive Fords at work with E-coated frames and they last, even on gravel roads. Ford does a great job. I’d take an e-coated Tacoma frame any day over GM’s cheap-ass wax dip that doesn’t work.

    If they were it is nothing like what Ford applies. My Toyota frame looks painted, but it could be something else. The Ford coating is more matte in appearance and 100x more durable than whatever process Toyota is using. I don’t think I need to justify my position based on the long, ever expanding, list of Toyota Tacoma frame rust issues.

    I wonder if Dana Corporation is still the Tacoma frame vendor. The class action lawsuit over premature corrosion cost Toyota 3.4 billion dollars.

    You go to put them on a lift and the want to slide off the pucks. Also it cracks the wax and it chips off exposing the frame. Once it cracks the salt and moisture get behind it and eat everything away. Junk

    Rust is worse. Been there and done that. I am having my 2017 done and if the "crap" isn't running everywhere they will do it again. I don't care about pretty, I want effective. I can't see it from the drivers seat and if someone wants to crawl around under there they can have at it.

    Yours being a 2017 you will more than likely only get the updated frame plugs. 99% of 17s already got this from the factory.

    I got the letter, but I am in Ohio. From what I understand only the folks in the rust belts states are being summoned. Give your dealer a call and MAYBE they can supply correct info.

    metalsa is the supplier now.

    still have yet to get a 2010 or newer taco with a hole. so they seem to hold up better than the dana trash. Colorados from the 2000s and the jeeps also had dana frames and i constantly see them traded in with holes in their frames.

    It appears that the dealership has a long wand to insert into the frame openings.

    long wand, special heater and pump, a massive wirewheel brush thing to use inside the frame rail and a 3-4 hour dry out of the frame before anything is done

    One can never have too many light bars.
    Woah guy hold your horses. First post and your saying something interesting, informative and useful with pictures and even apologized if someone already posted. You should be starting a thread asking what oil is recommended or what size tires you can fit without a lift like the 99% of the first posts.

    i sail and work a lot with stainless steal and aluminum fittings and hardware. It isn’t just the frame. Most vehicles use crappy connectors with only a token effort to keep vehicles from rusting much past The warranty time. It’s totally in the owner's hands to keep after it yearly. Sad but true. The idea is to sell you a new vehicle.
