Was this actually done inside the dealer (i.e. they now have a bay for this application and all equipment) - or did they just sub it out to alocal shop??

My 2020 does not appear to have this done. I was planning on doing the woolwax/ https://www.kellsportproducts.com/ myself when the weather warms up a bit. IS this better ?> Should I wait ?? Thanks

My 19 has frame plugs but also has some of coating the OP got. Mine isn’t oozing out but you can see it in some places Bought my truck new so Toyota was trying something on the 19s. I also sprayed the bottom with fluid film. Before next winter I’m going to try several products starting with that 3m cavity wax with a full set of their wands.

I think the cavity wax is good for door panels or whatnot, but I think a more fluid protectant is better for the frame, to seap into all the crevices better and much less risk of it hardening up over time or cracking and letting water/brine do its thing. Also easier to clean out fluid type sprays and top off later rather than wax.

Yea that was my thinking to start with the cavity wax the try to find another product like fluid film but one that might stick a little longer.

fluid film would probably be totally fine on the inside of the frame, mainly the water washed areas would have to be topped up.

wool wax is a thicker version of a fluid film type product.

I’ve been using corrosionX HD and it stays right in place inside the frame. Any areas on the exterior though pick up a lot of dirt which is kinda unavoidable.

I have wool wax and corrosion x on my list. I will always apply fluid film since I’ve been doing it on my last 3 cars. Living in Nebraska I’m trying to get as much life out of my frame as I can.

I want to take my 2012 in for this, got the letter in the mail. OP, anyone, how long did it take for the dealership to complete this? I need my truck for work right now but can probably go a week without it in the summer.

In my experience, using very thin, easy flowing coatings is very important to keep drain holes in body panels from clogging and is most important. Something like motor oil consistency does that.
