The older I get, the more I realize how vulnerable we are to the actions of others on the road.

Good luck to you and yours down there in SC!

hmm soldering off the LED on the board scares me a bit, but I can see where using the Black tape MOD for covering the TPMS light can be an option

I kinda felt the same way getting into it and had never done anything like this before but it was surprisingly easy to swap out about 10 LEDs on my gauge motherboard.

the white LEDs look best, I swapped out the automatic gear shift light to an Amber colored LED I now wish I had used the White led it would complement the interior lighting

I wouldn't say the TPMS light/system is useless. It saved my ass on a drive from CA to UT a couple years ago. My TPMS came on and I simply filled the tire that was indicated with air. It came on again and I then did a better check to find a nail in the tire. If I didn't have TPMS I could have been stranded in the middle of the desert somewhere with a flat tire. I know I could change to the spare but the system allowed me to get to a tire repair shop and get the tire repaired without requiring me to swap to the spare in the middle of BFE. On another occasion I was meeting up with several TW friends to go on a three day camp out/off roading adventure in the high desert. While meeting up with the group and getting prepared to head out, I noticed my TPMS light and found a screw in the tire. I ended up passing on the trip and getting the tire repaired. Had I not had TPMS I would have been stuck in the desert with a bad tire and my spare was not A/T so it would not have been ideal. IMO those two instances pointed out the utility of the TPMS system and saved me from major inconvenience, if not potential harm. I feel much more secure having the TPMS knowing that it can alert me to tire problems before I'm in a difficult situation. Just my $0.02.

I just twisted the bulbs off with a needle nose pliers. Super easy.

There's so much deceit that goes on with both sides of car buying (buyers and sellers) that both tend to just implement lying as part of their routine from the get go. Sucks because you do have genuine and honest people out there but it's hard to go into it with any real amount of faith that you're going to be dealing with one of those people. I'm sure that cuts both ways.

That's the automatic transmission temperature light activation protocol. You jump on your RIGHT leg four times to reset the maintenance required light.

That would have been a bad situation, I already used the CEL to scan and get a code to figure out coolant was slowly leaking into cylinder number 6 and replace the head gasket before it straight up failed and warped my block.
