    Hi all,

Brand new here and looking forward to my first Tacoma. I live in AK and am planning to fly to MT in May to visit family & friends and buy a new Tacoma OR in the state somewhere, most likely Bozeman, Butte, Helena, Missoula or such, and then drive it up. (FWIW the Canadian border is only open to Alaskans that are driving north.)

Anyone have good experiences at any dealerships in these parts of the state?

    Thanks in advance!

Avoid Reseller Toyota in Bozeman; common stealership liars with profound bait-and-switch skills.
Unfortunately I haven't found a great dealership in the area yet, but the one in Kalispell is where I would go if I had to. The only sales people I've conversed with in Kalispell were young and undertrained, but they at least tried to get correct answers, instead of straight-up telling lies.

Reseller had me prove residency; possibly due to the lack of sales tax here... If you're buying a vehicle, make sure the dealership already has any lien-releases already in hand, so you don't end up paying extra late fees due to their inability to get you the required paperwork in time.

    Good luck.

Bummer! Bozeman seems to have more Tacomas in stock right now than most others, but if theres still a decent supply in May, I'll check out Kalispell. They've only got one Off Road right now, so we'll see. Thanks for the tip!

Are you a Montana resident? What all did they require for proof of residency beyond a driver's license?

The stock at Ressler has only recently improved from zero or 1 new Taco on the lot to a few. Search the dealer in Idaho Falls, it’s a 3 to 3 1/2hr drive from Bozeman if other MT dealers don’t have a OR. For half of 2020, Ressler wanted a 1k deposit to reserve the truck from the factory. Not sure if that’s still the case.

I don't expect to order one from the factory, mostly because I would need to be sure it was ready by the time I was in the area. I wouldn't mind giving a deposit if they had one I wanted and the overall supply was low.

And you're saying that a few weeks ago they didn't have any Tacomas?

I drive by the dealer twice a week, from mid summer to a month or so ago, they might have had 1 new taco on the lot. Sometimes zero. I think there were 4 or 5 on the lot on Sunday. If you do use Ressler, ask for Zach, he owns a Gen 3 Taco rock crawler and at least knows the trucks.
