I have a TRD Sport on order. Waiting until the truck is actually at the lot to ask, but you think the dealership will swap my 265/70/R17 that are on my trade in truck over to my new truck without a big fuss? And I've seen so many conflicting posts, will I have to remove the air dam to fit them? (it's coming off anyway, just maybe taking it off at the dealership instead of the driveway)

Even if they don't, they'll just charge you. It's just a normal tire swap.

    Good luck with the swap.
70% chance they will AND charge you. (But they probably won’t want to)
27% chance they won’t do it at all.
3% chance they do it free or charge.

After all, the tire tech is going to need to be paid.
    Someone’s going to pay him.
I bet you can’t guess who “really” pays him?

If you've waited until after you've made the deal to purchase the truck, it's either going to be expensive or they're going to be "very busy right now" & it will take some time to get to it.

Probably a better idea to ask your salesman instead of random people on the internet.

    Yeah.
Yeah, once the sale is made their willingness to jump through more hoops goes significantly down. But I hope they do it for you.

I always get a kick out of the sales guy grabbing the cordless drill to put your temp plate on, like he's doing you a big freebie favor.

    Correct!
The sales department and service department are two separate deals. Unless they're friendly and swap favors, the service writer will want paid for work out of his shop,,,, they look at every minute. I would ask your salesmen, he may be able to get them to do it, or do it for less.

If you already did the trade value with pictures, they expect the truck as pictured.

Should have bought some cheap wheels off facebook marketplace and pulled the wheels you wanted to keep BEFORE having trade value assessed.

I think the dealership will do it, but probably charge you. In reality, they're able to put new tires on a trade-in, making it somewhat more saleable. I would hit up your salesman before your truck arrives and just have him schedule it with the service team. At most, it will cost you about $150.

Wont they have to reprogram the TPS system to read the different sensors?

When I moved from my 18 to 19, they moved my tires over for me. Made sure that I mentioned it as we did the paperwork.

OP, have you asked? I would be curious to hear what the outcome is. Right now everything is all good ... the sales person landed the sale and closed the deal. They want you to feel good -- and maybe sell you a few extras as well. Why not? Reach out to the sales person and ask them. Let them know also if they can give you a deal on a few accessories that you might want you might do that as well. No reason to assume it will be a negative issue at this point.

Please post back what happens. Best of luck to you ! I think it will work out in your favor and if you get introduced to the service manager, and he does you a favor, you are off on the right foot ... be polite and tell him you look forward to working with him down the road.

Power of positive thinking can go a long way ... !

The dealer I bought my 20 at reluctantly swapped my wheels and tires over. After I was ready to walk away from a truck I ordered 12 weeks prior they caved. Only they didn't reprogram the TPMS they were set on charging for that so I did that on my own later. Best to talk to the sales guy about it because if they do it for you they will most likely have to schedule service time for it since that is a different department.

Why not just ask your dealer instead of us?

Not if they are just swapping tires. TPMS stay with the wheel.
Which is basically why I don’t see them doing it “free”.
The tech is going to be mounting and balancing 8 tires if swapping just tires.
At the risk of making me sound “petty”, I can’t say I’d want to Mount/Balance 8 tires for free.

Like @Chew said, most all dealerships operate each center independent.
Service, Sales, and Parts are typically operated separately.

The sales guy probably shouldn’t commit to a Service Center job with out consultation first.

And of course, like others have said.
    Just ask the salesman.

Yeah stuff like that you need to get in writing before the deal is done. Once it is done, nothing extra will be free.

Years ago I took a new truck straight to a tire shop from the dealer and the shop credited me towards better tires. I think they paid me $100 a tire? You might also call some tires stores and ask.
