They have left messages and now they are texting me that they have been authorized to overpay to buy my '06 back form me as it is in high demand on their used lot.

I really like my Taco. 155k miles, no rust, late '06 head gasket build (the newer dsigned one)

Runs like a top and not sure about getting into truck payments again.

    Too few to list.
It's just a ploy to get you to buy from them. They won't give you anymore than what your truck is worth or do the numbers game (giving you more for your trade but won't move much on the new truck pricing).

Yup, just a scam. One time they told me they had buyers "lined up" for my 2010 dodge caravan, and that rare stow and go models with low mileage were in demand. Then they offered me $4500 on trade. Gimme a break. I sold it privately for $12k.

Theyre such greasy liars, it boils my blood.

Ask them to quote how much they would "overpay" for your 2006.

Been reading a lot of threads about new inventory sitting on the lots right now... (mainly the TRD Pro)

If I were to sell, I'd do private party to a co-worker who has been asking me for a year to sell him my truck. Plus, I've recently been adding mods to it and if I really wanted to sell I wouldn't of been doing that.

Shore Toyota in Mays Landing has sent me several of these notices...I told them that if they would like to buy my truck back and are in such a great need for this vehicle $20,000 and it's yours. That stopped the letters.

The letters I've received in the past from this one Honda dealership states "up to 120% KBB Excellent value". Also states that my vehicle has to be in "excellent condition and below average mileage". Keyword is "up to".

I get those notifications all the time for my 05. The svc manager at my dealer just laughed when I told him about it since they know the truck well and know I would never sell and what all has been done to it. Now some of the Techs want to buy it.

Send them this pic and thank them for their very generous offer. Let them know you will have it towed to them 1st thing tomorrow morning.

Have some fun with them. If your truck is hot, it will be hot in October too when they will have 19's on the lot that they will have deep incentives to move, including zero percent interest. Take your truck by and get an offer in writing. Then through August mess with them to get them to increase it. Then in September pick you out a 19. Do it online starting now, build it, search inventory and find one on another dealer's lot. Don't even bring up your truck. Tell them no trade-in. Work your best deal through August and September. Pull their pants WAY DOWN on the price. Figure cost and offer them that, yielding little over the next two months. Drive hard deals at other dealerships to show YOUR dealer later. THEN in October when the incentives get better show up with your truck that they want and their offer, and the offer of the other dealers in writing. If you don't plan on getting one at least bait them on so when you do decide to buy you will know exactly what is at play. Who knows. Zero percent is not that bad!

The man that does not need to buy a truck always gets the best deal. And tell them when they act like your offer is an insult, "Tacomas are like potato chips, eat the whole bag, because they will always make more."

If you got your truck from a dealer I’m pretty sure you got the letter in the mail.

Exactly. "Up to" a certain amount is not a quote. Also, KBB value varies by region so that language is double squishy -- typical dealer talk.
Ask for a hard number, they may ask you to bring it in for appraisal but it might be worth your time to satisfy curiosity.
