I think he’s in Louisiana, but even here in California just because it’s the law, doesn’t mean it actually happens.

At least they didn't say we'll fix the bumper when you bring it back to fix the transmission again. Surely the dealer can offload this truck as good as new with a better for them loan on the cpo lot.

Correct, everyones allowed to have their opinions...
Vehicles are wrecked a lot at dealers, shit happens.
They're repaired internally all the time at dealer expense.

Be glad it's at the dealer & not hacked back together by an independent.
An Indi wouldnt hesitate & hammer your bumper brackets back straight & slam a new bumper on, if the bumper brackets were bent...

My wife got rear ended and a dealership owned shop just slapped everything back over the dented subframe of her Grand Cherokee and said since the parts affected were not “structural” there is no need to replace them.

    There’s good & bad…
You should’ve educated yourself, and informed them to fix it correctly…
I don’t think you meant subframe,
probably the belly pan / structure directly behind the bumper, it should be pulled and repaired correctly.
Hundred percent if insurance was paying for it, they would’ve sent the insurance company a supplemental estimate for further repairs, and it would’ve been authorized & repaired correctly..

They disclosed it to you, you said, OK, don’t fix it…

Supplements happen every day, body shops, give an initial estimate and straight up, disclose that we need to inspect the under structures after tear down to see if there’s further damage and will result in a supplemental estimate to the insurance companies.
    normal protocol

ARB Bumper, SOS sliders, SOS rear bumper, SOS skid plate. OME Lift. Some other stuff.
I would expect better from an ARB bumper but that one looks like pretty flimsy.

...^^^... I would take it to several other body shops (including other Toyota dealers) and get some solid estimates to get it back to the way it was before.

I would NOT be happy with their original BS damage assessment ... looks like more than meets the eye.

I would stay away from the "SALES manager" and go up the chain to GM and then to owner and social media if necessary.

Dealership techs are not pure as the driven snow just because they work at a dealership rather than independent. From what I've gleaned from your posts, you were one of the few good mechanics with integrity. I'm sure you know as I've stated in another thread, this industry is transient. Techs come and go fast. I mentioned I supervised the body and paint shop for a large Ford dealership. It doesn't matter what brand or if it's an independent shop. The techs up and leave to another shop at the drop of a dime and they go to other dealerships and independent shops and back. Mechanics need to know the particulars of whatever brand they're working on. But Body men are body men are body men. All cars are pretty much put together the same. So they're not "Ford" body men, they're just auto body men. Same as painters. And I've seen independent shops that do a much better job than most dealership shops. You had an example of poor work at an independent shop. How about ramming a tug into the rear bumper of an F-150 to get the bumper and tailgate aligned? That happened at my dealership my first hour at work. It all comes down to what management allows and the individual tech.
