BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
I believe if the insured vehicle is damaged in any way the incident must be reported to the insurance co or you can be dropped from your provider.

The "harsh" ride records sound like somebody was hot dogging in your vehicle for a 60 mile joy ride. Did you share that with the Service Manger and Sales Manager? Move up the ladder to the General Manager and the Owner.

lol! I’m not sure how a Carfax ding on your new vehicle, paying your deductible, along with having an embarrassing temper tantrum at the dealer is going to do anything to help the situation. How about not acting like a diva, and give them an opportunity to fix their screw-up? Then, shake hands, accept their apology and act like men?

I always preferred the customer to be there when I inspected a vehicle. Never had anything to hide from them, could educate them about the process, and if I was at the shop, shop and I could work together to ensure the customer was informed. Also, great way to eliminate the "that wasn't like that before" bullshit that so many scumbags try to pull.

Regarding your odometer issue, unless the vehicle was a total loss, the incorrect mileage is not a big deal. It's not great, but not a big deal. If it had been a total, then it would've been a big deal for you and not USAA because it would've reduced the value of your vehicle.

    Fraud = theft by deception.

If you think the dealership that damaged the truck and wants to repair it on their own has the customer's best interest at heart, you are very naive. Also, no one is talking about throwing a tantrum or being a diva. An educated consumer will take charge and advocate for themselves, which can be done very politely and reasonably.

...^^^...Thanks for your input. I was concerned that the wrong mileage would affect the depreciated value on the hail damage claim.

Plus, the adjuster missed the entire roof damage, many dings up there.

You should definitely have them correct it on the estimate and in their computer system, but it's not a major issue.

They will fix and may turn it in to their insurance for recovery. I would talk to my sales person if you have concerns.

. We have a TMM plant near us and had an ASQ group tour. Someone asked about this group of vehicles and they said they got damaged on the line while loading and they were going to the onsite repair shop

If they handle the repairs directly with OP, they're not turning it into their insurance, especially for such minor damage. That's the whole reason they offered to do what they did.

The only person at the dealer OP should be talking to is the GM.

You won’t get a new truck out of this.

    bumper is replaceable.

gaps in tailgate: with your hand push the tailgate to the side with a larger gap. It has play in it and can slide from side to side.

With a new truck I assume the trans work was covered if it wasn’t tell them they now did that for free to pay for the inconvenience they have caused you. Otherwise along with fixing your truck tell them you want store credit for parts/service.

The managers would have to get other teams involved if you ask for cash but they might have the authority to give you credit without much fuss.

Don’t bother involving corporate, they can’t do anything here other than annoy the dealership

This thread had me wondering about vehicles damaged at the factory and being repaired before the dealership ever gets them. Instead of getting shafted by the dealer, you could be getting shafted from the factory.

All snark aside, unless that tech was backing up at considerable speed, I'd feel a bit of a pit in my stomach over the damage to that steel bumper.

The cover is easily replaced, if the actual steel crosspiece under the cover is bent or damaged in any way [and it looks as if i may be bent, however slightly], it will cause fitment issues and affect the frame because it will draw the sides of the frame in which may explain the tailgate being out of adjustment. And just looking at it shows the driver side is not even close to what the passenger side fitment is. I would want pictures of all the underlying steel once the bumper covered is removed. [personally I'd want to inspect it myself, even paint damage on the frame will cause far faster rusting in a place that is very hard to see it until it spreads.

Actually, I could see them doing hard acceleration to stress the tranny to see if any more leaking/loss of fluid is still occurring. However, a straigh-line acceleration test would be all you'd need, unless they're manually downshifting to decelerate, thus stressing the tranny. The hard cornering and braking isn't needed, I'd think.

On the other hand, since they basically rebuilt the tranny it seems a more gentle break in period may be prudent? Gear heads would know better than I.

Driving hard increases the transmission fluid pressures....
So its benificial when it comes to taxing it to verify it's really repaired...

Or the tech has a previous generation & this was the first opportunity he got to drive a gen 4 & wanted to put it through its paces....

In the old days, when people were honest, knowledgable and trustworthy, this would work.

In the current day and age, however, our only option is to go scorched earth because everyone at car dealerships is either an idiot or a scoundrel. Or both. That ven diagram has a lot of overlap
