Oh c'mon slater. Aren't you an automative technician? Maybe Ford shops do it that way, but there's no way I'd believe the official toyota repair procedure for transmission reassembly includes a 60 mile stress test, including a stop at a private residence, to 'verify' it's really actually properly repaired. When the parts are inspected, cleaned, properly torqued, and using new gaskets, its thoroughly engineered to be as good as new. There is no 'test and find out' step in their QC process. That is more like my driveway repair procedure, but not how a professional shop would be instructed to it.

Suggestion, take it to an independent frame shop and have them check for frame damage and alignment.

Last year my BIL ordered an F150 - waited several months for it to arrive from wherever it's built, then got a call from the dealer that it was caught in a hailstorm before being shipped to the (NH) dealer.
He was offered the option of waiting for a new truck to be built, or take a discount (~$1200 I think) and have it repaired. He opted for the repair, and was still given the opportunity to look at it and change his mind once it made it to the dealer. He's driving it now and it seems fine. He'll probably hang on to it until it dies, so not really worried about resale if the paint doesn't hold up perfectly over the years.

Im not justifying 60 mile roadtest....
Those stopping points could have been tech cycling the key...
takes 3 key cycles for certain codes to generate & turn-on the check engine light...
Any good mechanic would intentionally do this...
I have no idea if the guy was on a joyride or being thorough.....
Im just stating driving it harder will increase transmission pressures so if you have a pressure related leak, there's a reason to...
Some jobs if are big jobs, go through a multi roadtest process if the shop is good & have their shit together....
Tech will drive it a few times, & then hand it off to shop foreman or shop foreman assistant for the QC process...
Tech will say, "he I gutted this guys trans or engine or whatever & want to to go drive it for an hour"
put some miles on it, sometimes with more specific detailed instruction....
That's exactly what happens, there's a lupe my assist shop foreman does all the time that's at least 25 miles one direction....
    but whatever....

    Happens all of the time.

I once inspected a new Chrylser 300, belonged to a guy who worked as a zone rep for Chrysler. He had it for 3 days before someone backed into it, directly on the front-to-rear door gap, damaging both doors. The damage was minor, just a few hours of repair + refinish the doors and blend the fender/quarter. Guy immediately gives me attitude, "You're not putting any fucking Bondo on my brand new car. I was there when the truck dropped it off, I didn't even let them dealer prep it (which is dumb, but I digress). I'm a fanatic about my cars. You're paying for 2 new doors!!!" I showed him that there was CRACKED BODY FILLER ON BOTH DOORS because the car had obviously been damaged on the line and sent to the body shop at the assembly plant and already had been repaired/filler used. This moron about fell over.

This sounds wise for a few reasons. If nothing else, the "that wasn't there before" is eliminated. Also, the customer who doesn't know can be educated.

My approach always when having issues was to work with the shop and solve it together. Some were better than others with that though.

I can see him wanting it done right of course being 3 days new to him re the replace versus repair..and I'd probably be livid to learn that it probably left the line with filler, FWIW..though I wouldn't have freaked on you of course

Excellent suggestion here. You had mentioned hearlier that there would be a significant wait for the replacement parts. This will be an excellent time to get an inspection of the damage by an independent party (or two). Take pictures at the dealership of the damage/bumper/frame in that area before you leave the premises.

Not sure if that bumper is cheap metal but I would push for the new truck.

Who knows what else did he mess up or how many potholes he hit with 60mph +, maybe even drove 4x4 at high speeds.

how can you even trust them to assemble your new transmission. Don't let them anywhere near engine, no oil changes. Your truck can't be first that was taken for personal joy, i am sure they do it a lot, its just yours is the one with attentive owner.

If they refuse the trade with new, go full insurance. Ask for footages maybe some cameras caught it happen since you know the location.

Now is your chance to get out of this trouble, or you can wait 40k miles and if something fails later caused by them now, that will be on you.

exactly the stealership techs are literally useless incompetent retards, when I had shoulder surgery I was forced to use them for an oil change I wrote the tech a letter asking him not to overtorque and tipped him $20 he wrote a letter back saying I made his year and that he made sure to do everything by the book and he still fucked it up!!! If these stupid fucks can’t even do an oil change I absolutely guarantee they fucked up a transmission replacement same goes for any warranty work these useless cunts will do

Yep same, I actually broke the plastic oil filter housing because it would just not come off with right torque, and they didn't even tighten the oil cap on top, it was just sitting there one turn away to fall off. Not rotating tires either. I literally put tape on the rim, truck went in/out with wheel with tape in same place, no one cares. I guess the pay is so low, its just not worth their effort.

In his case its 70K truck. Which some dude used raw and then dumped her on him.

....^^^ I bought a new blue 280ZX and 6 mounts after I bought it the paint started bubbling around a hood scoop.

The salesman later slipped and told me that the truck delivery carrier dropped a chain on it upon unloading it and they quickly repainted the hood before
    I picked it up.

Now, I always ask IF any previous damage was done to the vehicle.

**From my understand, if the repaired damage is below a certain amount, they don't have to disclose it **(correct me if I am wrong here).

I bought a new 1991 Mustang that unknowing to me was repaired. I had a couple Mustangs before so when I saw a black plastic plug in the left quarter door jamb I was suspicious. This was just when paintless dent repair was getting started as an industry. Long story short I pulled out the plug and saw a jagged hole in the door jamb. Turns out something fell against the left quarter panel, broke the glass and dented the panel but the paint was OK. So the quick method was to replace the quarter glass then use a metal rod with a point to simply punch a hole in the sheet metal so they could insert the PDR tools to massage out the dent, then put some rubber glue on the plug and cover the hole. I was not happy.

Fast forward ten years, I'm working at a Ford dealership, not in sales. Our area had a hellacious hail storm one day. Messed up all the exposed inventory of all the dealerships. They called in the "Storm Chaser" PDR companies. These guys are quick. They make millions on just one good storm. After they were done I was interested in a particular truck. The saleswoman didn't realize I worked there. I asked her if the truck had any hail damage that was repaired. Total silence for a long time then a lot of stammering. FYI, every dealership keeps a file on every stock unit. They document every penny they put into a vehicle whether it be on repairs or preloads or whatever. So if you ever are buying and have any doubts, ask to see the file on that vehicle and don't let them tell you it doesn't exist. I wish I could remember the computer program name for it but I can't.

If this was my truck. I would be extremely upset the dealer damaged it and took it for the joy rides. You don't need to drive it like this to test their work. I wouldn't be rude but build your position to force them to replace no matter what the damages. Let them deal with the resale, lost value and explanations. I would take it to another shop for a full estimate of damages repair costs. I would consult with a lawyer on next steps and assistance preparing response to dealership. Be sure to include using one of the various news stations consumer assistances hot line for informing the public of the dealerships actions. There is also the BBB and Google review. Last thing dealership wants is verifiable published negative PR.

    Good Luck

Why did they go NOLA??? They could have just gone up to Lacombe on 12 and back on 190, that would get up to temp and then have stop/go traffic. Thats unacceptable and you probably could argue theft or joyride at the least. Did they tell you they would be putting miles for leak test? Did you authorize “harsh driving”? I mean that guy was on the clock and that trip would be over an hour with traffic.

I wouldn’t take it to them for oil. In fact, I’d drive to Mississippi and never go back to that dealer. I would take it to a collision center to get evaluated.

After the shenanigans the dealership pulled I wouldn't trust their in-house repair. Get insurance involved so you can be sure it gets done correctly.

Yep. I don't trust any of my local dealers to do an oil change; there's no way I'd trust them to do anything even remotely as involves as a trans replacement.
