I was just looking at my local dealer, and the only Tacoma they had was a lease return... beautiful 2017. I figure it was gone the next day?

New Tacomas are scarce around here. Used car market is HOT right now. It's a great time to sell IMO. Just sold my 18 Taco for $35k private party. Sold in one day. Needed a bigger truck for my growing family.

Northwest Indiana Chicago area here. Lots 2/3 full with less new cars. Used cars selling well at higher prices. Who knows what will happen next?

Took me a month to sell my Taco back in mid March. The buyer and I met at my bank and then the state was shut down the following day. Squeaked it in. Early May I found my Tundra in KY, put a deposit down within 5 mins of the dealership opening that morning and it wasnt for sale a full 24 hrs before I had purchased it and arranged shipping sheerly because id been looking 6 months and it was the exact truck I wanted. Im ‘that girl’
But yeah, the lots up here in ME/NH are wiped clean of the trucks as well. The Ram dealer next door in Gorham NH is overflowing though. Friggin turds..

Maybe I'll post my 6000 miles 2019 Sport DCLB 2wd for 36.5k firm and see if any1 bites. Then buy a Offroad DCSB when price drops

You gotta get in the game quick. It's too late now. We were just lucky (I guess) - in the market for a new vehicle at the beginning of all the shut-downs. It was the exact opposite down here. Lots were full of vehicles, but not customers. Close to whatever day they reconcile sales and inventory the dealerships were willing to sign any deal that got a truck off the lot. Got our TRD O/R for $500 over invoice. Not the best deal out there, but better than most. Now, the inventory is low and the demand is about the same. My son ordered a 4Runner TRD Pro and paid MSRP. He's on a list and has to wait 8 weeks to get what he wants.

Stock wheels and suspension. Random "utilitarian" mods featured on this great forum.
That's what it looks like my local dealer is doing. They always had actual photos of the vehicle posted on their site and recently, it's stock photo (in the wrong color) and no interior shots. Lots of SRs and a couple Sports/ORs. All the ones without the photo have a Call For Price option only; not even an MSRP listed.

This is why I ended up with a certified pre-owned. Local dealership, fairly large, sold damned near every truck they had during the 0% financing deal in May. AT that time I wasn't even looking yet but in June after my F-150 sucked yet more money out of my wallet I began my search. Learned pretty quickly that what I wanted as far as a new Tacoma went wasn't going to happen and the salesman pulled out this 2017 with less than 8k miles on it in a color I liked and pretty much what I was looking for I jumped on it. You can't find a Tacoma near me right now in south-central PA.

Having just bought mine used, I can tell you the used market is hot as well. I drove 2 hours to Nova and test drive an 18. Ended up leaving the lot after the test drive because the dealer failed to tell me that the Bluetooth and backup camera didn’t work on it because the previous owner had done some mods and left them unhooked. Simple fix that they called me about once I got home, so I tried to get a better deal out of it. Next day that truck was gone. Few days later found the exact same truck at a dealer in RVA and had a test drive lined up for a couple days later. They called me when I was about to leave to come drive it to tell me they sold it the previous night, even though I was told “they were holding the keys just for me.” Frustrated, I kept searching and found mine as soon as it hit the website and went and got it. Paid a little more than I wanted, but didn’t want to let another slip away.

Went to my local dealer yesterday and they only had a handful of new vehicles. I’d say under 40-50 total. It was crazy to see the lot so empty. Normally that would have 40 Tacoma’s alone.

Prime Toyota has 63 Tacos and Tundra's in stock. Tundra has a $2.5k rebate.
As always, it depends on your location. Do a buy and drive and save thousands....

The Portland Metro area is out of new Tacomas. The used market is hot and prices are climbing even worse than oregons used market normally is.

The Toyota dealership near me is pretty much empty. They are only selling the camry and the prius for some reason.

Both Toyota dealers within 30 miles of me have only 1 New Tacoma each. Between the 2 of them they have 5 used Tacoma's. The bigger used dealers in town usually has some Tacoma's but they're empty too.

When I bought my Pro on the last day of April there were about 37 or so 2020s to choose from one the lot and most were Off Road with good packages. Now there are about 12 trucks and a lot are the same SR 2wd models that were there in April. Only two base Off Road left. No pros at all to be had anywhere around, so I am glad I made my deal when I did. Also the 2019 left overs like mine that were new in the state and some surrounding states are now all gone inventories are stripped compared to what I had to choose from at the end April. Glad I didn't wait.
