I wish all dealerships would have a balcony to watch mechanic do work on vehicle.I would watch even though you wouldnt be able to see every thing.t may help keeping the bad mechanics honest, what do you all think?

It sounds like you know better than the mechanics do…why not just do your own work? Especially if you have the time to watch..

What do you do for a living? Would you be ok with someone who likely has no idea how to do your job watching you all day passing judgment and nitpicking everything you do?

I worked in a peanut gallery shop, was really unprofessional and drove me nuts.

I'd switch trades before I let a customer watch me again. I'm vigilant and over honest but I get that people are curious or mistrusting of my trade.

Would you like me to watch you work? Didn't think so. I hate when customers bug me, unless bullshitting is on the repair order, then leave me be. Running up my time.

In that case why not put a balcony over the kitchen at Applebee's or a GPS tracker on the wife's car?

Wait the boyfriend picks her up in his Raptor at the gym for a quickie at the Holiday Inn Express, but Applebee's first because he wants her to feel special.

She knows you're at home dreaming of how to scheme your insurance out of diminished value because of a scratch from a cart at Trader Joe's. I mean never mind the cab mount chop and all that molle bullshit screwed to every piece of interior plastic to hold a knife you bought at a truck stop.

Some of you have trust issues, I suggest visiting a therapist.

What's next can I film the doctor doing the knee surgery because I need to know if he's using OEM parts?

I have a sign in my shop.
My labor is $120 an hour.
If you watch it's $150 an hour.
If you offer advice it's $175 an hour.
If you help it's $200 an hour.

Sounds like you have trust issues. Either go to therapy or find a shop where you can be a voyeur.
I would refuse to do work for someone like you. Good luck.

I get it, people have trust issues. However, it's bothersome dealing with customers as a tech. I work on Peterbilts so I deal with drivers so they talk to me like I know driving life. I'm just working on a truck, let me get you out the door so you can make money. That's how I see it.

It works great all the way up until the customer see's you beating the rotors off the truck with a 3lb hammer...

There are many things in auto mechanics that are not pretty, and would be seen as "abusing the customers car" if seen by the customer.

If you're going to a mechanic how'd you know what they were doing if you even got to see them working?
