Just venting here lol and wondering what others think. I know we all have a “Dear Toyota” list haha

Nothing new here but feel like the Gen 4 will initially be a let down. They could vastly improve the 3 and then jump a Gen

I’m 30+ year toyota guy. Love Toyota but seems like Toyota loves chopping away at the Taco and it is aggravating. .

First Dear Toyota- quit half stepping on the taco give people what they want esp for the price you charge

For example….just a couple things for Christs sake put rear disc brakes on it, a gas cap holder, a drivers side oh shit handle and find a way to skirt around whatever restrictions your under economy-wise and throw diff gears in the truck. That’s just a few things we could all keep going.

Now the Gen 4. Please don’t make it a “mini” Tundra. Please tell me you didn’t go for this styling.

If it looks like the Tundra I’ll be let down. Had the 22 Tundra and it was ok but the Taco should not look like it. Imo

Yeah Toyota I hear you’ll have rear disc brakes and prob throw a turbo on it - not too thrilling after all these years.

I think the Gen 3 will retain its popularity over the 4 ultimately or maybe I’m worried for nothing

Wonder what you guys think. I laughed as I typed this. Just having fun. I know it’s 2023 and impossible not to offend anyone but was just having fun but for real…Toyota could really deliver on the taco if they wanted instead of leaving it to all these private companies making simple and cool stuff for our Taco’s

    Have a great 2023 Everyone

I just see the Tacoma diff from so many other vehicles. Heritage out the butt crazy hardcore cult following…. It’s diff from other car models. I just believe it deserves much more.

I'm sure Toyota will look at this post and take notes.

most things today are shit. corporations tend to shareholders first, car people second if ever. people today care more about if their iphone27 syncs up to the media center instead of caring about the car itself. hell, i even go out of my way to get shirts from the 90s-00s because they are made from thick material instead of the napkins they sell for clothes today.

I think the 4th gen will eventually just be like all the other Toyota Trucks before it. Well loved and desired. Not for everyone but those who understand what Toyota delivers with their trucks.

You’re 100% right. I just wish they would do more for one of the models that has a true and crazy cult following like the Taco

    Yeah.
Just throwing out some thoughts here. To me, it seems like many car makers grow the size of a particular model over time, just like what happened with the Toyota PU, 1st gen Taco, then 2nd gen Taco. The Camry and Corolla seem to have grown in size over time, and they filled in the gap below the Corolla with smaller models (the current Corolla seems about the same size as an old Camry). The Tacoma hasn't grown really since the 2nd gen, and it probably won't, but that leaves a gap for something a bit more compact. I'd like to see Toyota come out with something like the 1st gen in size, but also with good off-roading capability (not a Maverick).

I don't think they will change the formula with the Taco too much. They have to make certain changes due to regulations. It will look different, and I didn't like the looks of the 2nd or 3rd gen when they first came out, but I am sure it will grow on me. Or maybe not. I've likely got time to wait for the 5th gen discussions.

Going off the new Tundra with TT and now including a smaller gas tank, I wonder if the 4th gen will also get a smaller tank. 15 gal?

I’m actually pretty happy with my 3rd gen. Rear drum brakes have never been an issue for me. I don’t care for the sea of plastic parts attached to the 3.5L, but only time will tell if they hold up. Now as for the 4 gen I’m in agreement about being a mini Tundra and I have no interest in anything turbocharged. I guess I’m to old school and not interested in all the technology being put into modern vehicles.

I’m with you. Little too much plastic but fingers crossed, I like naturally aspirated trucks rather than a turbo (my diesel has turbo that’s enough turbo crap for me) I also like the Gen 3 just wish they’d left us with few better options but I’m adding all that and agree with drum brakes… not a big deal but would rather have disc

Thanks for input. I just like to get a sense of what others think about this stuff too. I’m def not leaving Toyota brand. I know we all have a “dear Toyota” list. It’s just fun to chat about at time.
