It was actually super nice out there when we were there. The only hot spot was below sea level sections. Besides that it was in the 70's.

Wow, that's a lot of miles! How much extra gas did you carry or did you leave the park to gas up?

We filled up in the park, but we plan around not gassing up at the most expensive station. Most of us had about 5 extra gallons but we ended up not needing it besides the FJ80. That thing sucked gas.

It actually gets pretty chilly in the winter, the surrounding mountains will get snow. We tried to pick a sweet spot between too hot and too cold. For the most part it was super nice. It rained on us one night which was pretty cool. We were talking about doing a middle of summer trip(120-130 degrees) but it would be all pavement and staying at hotels lol.

It usually is over 100F there this time of the year. They must have caught a lucky break. The best time to go is in November to April. Then the temps starts to really ramp up....and down.

I should've mentioned a little more detail. We were the 3 rigs (2 3rd gen tacos, 1 3rd gen 4runner). We were eating at one site, when your convoy came in looking for spots to camp. We let you know we were there just to eat. We were admiring the entire campsite, as it was nothing but toyotas (and the chevy).
