I'm glad they are removing them from DV. They are neat animals, but too great in numbers now and Federal costs are getting out of control to maintain them once captured. Plus, I could not find a clean campsite in Butte Valley a few years back becaus burro droppings everywhere!

Coyotes have been conditioned not to fear humans in Death Valley because stupid humans feed them. Once they start getting hit by rocks or sling shot volleys the reconditioning begins.

yeah...if they're not native then they should be relocated...
doing the same recently in my native washington state with the mountain goats - moving them from the olympic mountains (introduced by man for sport) to the cascades where they are native...

Sweet, thanks for the feed back. I'm heading up this weekend so I'm hoping it should still be in good shape this time of year. On 265/75 KO2s with a locker so feel I'll be fine.

Sliders help on the one big rock. Or just plan on stacking a bunch of rocks if someone else hasn't already.

I think it was about half way up, right before the right hand turn. It's the one in my profile picture. It's been a year since I went through so it could have changed.

Funny store: First time I went through there we got stuck behind a big group going uphill. They had 1 stock 4 runner with running boards on it and he didn't want to mash the boards on the rock so he tried to go around it. He managed to break off his valvestem on the side of the rock. The guy spotting him ran over and stuck his thumb over the hole while someone else found a stick the right size. They stuck it in the valvestem hole and then winched him up. He ended up mangling the running boards pretty bad anyway.

This would be the second or maybe even third burro roundup. They were rounding them up back in the early 80s using helicopters. I don’t recall if there was any direct reduction once they had hauled most of them out, of course help hours are speedy.....

I don’t think there can ever be a permanent reduction. Those things multiply quickly :)
