I was like "Where's the spare?" when I picked up my Type R. Dude goes "goop" and compressor. So pretty much flat == dealer (roadside assistance). I put a big ass plug kit in the back.

It happens every so often at the dealership I work at. Customer wants pricing for a spare, but declines when its $250 bucks or so for the factory spare

I worked with a Silicon Valley billionaire company founder who switched his brand allegiance from one high end brand to another, when he learned the car he wanted from the first company stopped including a spare (this was about 10 years ago).

It happens for a variety of reasons including weight, fuel consumption, and cost. Screwed up too.

And also a lot of the EV 's don't have the space simply because of the battery bank(s)

Well the forecast called for 75% chance of rain with 30 mph gusts in SV, 50 mph at the racetrack all day today and we’ll into the night so we kinda wimped out, since we’re tent camping. Latest forecast seems much more benign but too late to change plans, heading in on Friday. Dealt with wind/sand there before ... not worth it. Took an awesome hike up Surprise Canyon yesterday and took the slow road to Big Pine today. Stopped at Manzanar on the way. Three guys with extra gas, 12 gallons of water, firewood and 2 coolers means I had to add the Yakima box.

Death Valley Rd on Friday morning, west of the Saline turnoff at North Pass. One-two inches of fresh snow, first vehicle tracks around 8:30 AM. 2893FB5A-8993-4089-8389-7AC0AE277EA0.jpg
    Sunset that evening.

Descent through North Pass was icy but eventfree, departure via South Pass was easy. Both with far more snow than I’ve seen here before, and the springs were almost empty except for a big Toyota group at the upper springs. Very quiet and pleasant two days, so my good SV springs experiences are holding fast.

That's awesome that you got a quiet time at the springs!

This was about as bad as it got coming out South Pass this morning. Packed but not too icy by 9:30 am. 4wd high, 2nd gear cruise. Maybe about 1-2 miles of this.

Not a Taco, but this truck carcass in Surprise Canyon was interesting. An early ‘60’s Ford with a flathead six under the hood, and 4wd. Probably a Power Wagon powertrain swap?

Picked up a “used” copy of Death Valley SUV Trails for $15. It’s brand new. I doubt a page was turned.

it’s a nice mix of trail guide and history. I’ve always like guide books that remind you of your responsibility and the archeological importance of the parks. This book does both well.

How friendly is Lippincott Pass ? Will a stock taco handle it?

I'll be entering from the West part of DV. Then head south for all the tourist views ( Dante's view badwater and etc). After Titus canyon race track. Maybe the duck Bath. I'm worried about steel pass. Then Saline for the hot springs! I might check out Joshua tree aswell
