    Just the basics
I have one of those. Used it once. I still have the bags and litter in my rig but utilize other methods most of the time. The Murphy Method being the primary one and can be utilized most areas with little impact...

If youre out hiking, bring along some latex or plastic gloves. Keep them with your toilet paper and/or wipes. When it's time to go, put your gloves on and do your business. After cleaning up, leave the toilet paper and wipes outside your cat hole. Next grab the pile of wipes and toilet paper with one hand and turn the glove inside out with the other hand finally encapsulate the 1st package in the 2nd glove. Now with your clean hands, you have a way to transport your waste paper out of the backcountry. The Murphy Method!

Works great when using any type of crapper to keep hands clean and paper waste to a minimum.

Anyone know if they have air in Panamint Springs? Have a compressor, but it's really slow.....would rather air up there if I can.

Yes there is a free compressor at the gas station. As of 3 weeks ago it worked but no guarantee it will when you get there. It was a cheap harbor freight.

There is one at the General Store - gas station but I wouldn't be surprised if they wanted to charge $$$$$$$$$$$ to use it. Gas is very expensive there too.

I wish that Surprise Canyon up to Panamint city was still open to off roading !!!!! . Those seven waterfalls were so much fun to crawl over or winch up / down

Pretty sure it is free if you buy any quantity of gas from them (CA law). And in my experience most of the more remote gas stations don't even require you to purchase gas and just leave it free to use at anytime. I know it was free many moons ago before I had on board air and hopefully it still is!

I do that but the whole thing then gets places in puppy poop bags. The ones I have are mildly scented and block out offending odors. Then those bags go in an airtight container with the rest of my trash from the trip.

You used to be able to drive/winch up the canyon. It has been closed to vehicles now for awhile.

Google Surprise Canyon 4wd or similar or look on YouTube and you can find pictures and video of the winch-fests that took place after the 1984 flood until the closure in 2001. I agree it looks cool, but as someone who hiked up the canyon a few weeks ago, I think it’s much better closed to vehicles. We started late in the day and didn’t make it to Panamint City ... it was cold, wet and slippery (a lot of it is scrambling up a creek bed, not fun in 45° weather) but beautiful and quiet.
