Oh God. That sucks. The kind of scene you can never quite fully forget. Haha. When I do go to the springs, I think I'll go in August!

    That's pretty awesome. :)

    Smart move! :D lol

Have fun there in August, I've been in April and now December and April was getting into the uncomfortable temperatures during the day.

And as far as the naked old dudes go that's just something you get used to if you go to many hot springs out there, if you want to avoid it stay away during busier weekends or holidays haha.

I don't ever want to get used to naked old dudes. It's where I draw the line.

Too funny, you think if he was cold he would put on pants.

Touché haha I guess it's something you just have to deal with out there. Regardless it's one of my favorite places to get away to.

Definitely a cool place. Did you ever take the road all the way to Eureka Valley? really rocky but the dune mountain is a great place to camp

Thanks for posting the trips! I've never been to Death Valley and plan to go out during April and May for night photography.

    ^^
If you can get out there a few weeks earlier you may have better luck with night photography ; crisp and clear nights, less chance of hot desert winds stirring up the dust and possibly fewer tourists as well - the closer you get to Easter/Spring break (April 5) the busier the valley will be. The temps in May can be toasty in the lower areas like Stovepipe and Furnace Creek.

A Winter night sky in DV can provide some amazing stargazing ops! It may be cooler in the evenings but the trade off for cool pics and fewer tourist on the trails may be worth it if your a photobug. But, really,, anytime in DV is sure to be a great time!

Post up a trip date/plan if you're up to a few photog tag alongs on your DV adventure!

    Cheers!
    Lee

    Cool pics.

Crom, don't you carry a spare? I carry a tire repair kit - but I'd only break it out after I'd already rotated out the flat for a spare and then got a second flat.

Yes of course I have full size spare. However I much rather prefer to plug the leak with the tire on. I'll swap to spare when I have no other option. For me under normal conditions plugging a hole is a 5-10 minute roadside affair. For tire repair I also carry starting fluid, a tire spoon, extra valve cores, and valve stems, valve stem puller tool, 4-way valve stem tool, valve caps. I may add add some dish soap to my kit for leak detection. It doesn't weigh much and stacks things in my favor on the trail. ;)

    Too funny!

I drove the entire Saline Valley road in August 2011 solo. :) Hottest temp on that day was 110 as I recall. Sounds a little crazy to some folks but it's all about preparation.

Had I known the exact location of the springs I'd have been there on that trip.

I'll try hard to get back again this year.
