Yeah, I’m thinking go in North Pass (I’ve come in the other way twice) and head south or over Lippincott or Hunter on the way out.

Edit: Actually have been to the North Pass, was thinking of the route over by Eureka dunes, not been there yet. The talk of the south end, and @DVexile 's photos caused me to reminisce. Such a magnificent place. :) 2017 was a tough year for me, could not make the park.

There's lots of new signage all over the park. I've posted some pics. Even Saline has new signs.

Because I usually do Steel Pass instead I've only actually done North Pass once - and that was headed out of the valley. The views looking back in the review mirror were really amazing though so I can understand why it is a favorite!

We are headed to DV this weekend. Planning to enter from Gold Point on Friday afternoon. Then north and around to Eureka dunes, through steel canyon and to the hot springs Saturday. If we make good time we might go all the way to South Pass Saturday night and then through Hunter to Racetrack and over Lippencott on Sunday before heading home.

Be monitoring 146.520 if anyone is around.

Why not take Lippencott to the Racetrack? Hunter Mountain is gonna have snow still.

There was very little snow on Hunter Mountain when I drove over it over MLK weekend, and none on the road.

I was in Saline from the 20th - 24th. Looked like Hunter was covered in snow. I didn't drive south pass but people who did reported snow and ice. There are parts of south pass that stay shadowed most of the day and that's the icy part. I posted a pic showing some of the snow on north pass which definitely isn't bad.

There hasn't been much snow in the southern sierra this season so far. Dismal compared to last season. So doubt there's much up there now.

Thanks @ETAV8R for pointing me to this thread - I've got some reading to do!

We recently did a whirlwind trip down to DV ourselves - our first trip down there. Loved it, can't wait to go back. In the process of writing it up over in my build thread. Couple more reports to go...

I have a set of 10 "Lynx Levelers" which are the orange Lego like stacking levelers for RVs. I have used them precisely once right after I bought them. I've used rocks every time after that since I'd have to get the levelers out of the truck but the rocks are just right there ready to use already! The "Lynx Levelers" are on my "likely to remove" list for my truck to perhaps open up a bit more space for other stuff.

I’ve mostly been able to find something to level. Not always. And even with leveling jacks, uneven terrain make blocks handy to have. Oh, Maxtrax work too.

In the same boat. While I wouldn't take mine out they don't get used as much as mother natures leveling tools.
My last trip to DV I was on one rock that was perfect.

Quick question... What do you do for resting in shade in DV? I wanna do some dispersed camping and exploring but I will need shade to relax. Just got a bajarack and now wondering if I should get an arb awning or just jimmyrig something myself

Try the jimmyrig first. I am quite pleased with my budget awning. Now it wasn't that cheap because I use a Kelty Noah Tarp but it is what I have had for years and only now is it getting used. You can get cheap shockcord tent/tarp poles on ebay. Tons of tarps on Amazon too.
