Yea you’re right. I was thinking (for some reason) we were talking about the clear coat of the paint job haha. Not a dealership applied ceramic coat.

ceramic coating done right is a good investment if you’re a lazy ass like myself and never like to wash and wax your truck on a regular bases, but would also never pay someone else to do it. If you’re the type of person that regularly washes and waxes your truck then it’s probably a waste of money IMO. Ie a good regular wax is just as effective if not more so. if you’re the type of person that takes it to a car wash (automated / semi-aumated / fully hand wash) it’s also a waste. Ie for it to last as long most expect you need to be able to control the detergent being used and take care washing it. You’ll never get that unless you do it yourself IMO.

sounds like i made the right choice then. even if i washed her once a week, she would still be dirty for 4 days a week. and based on my past habits, i cant say ill wash every week. if your talking carwash detergent, whats your opinion on regular dish soap? i used that on my last truck for 3 years with no ill effect, but this truck i plan to keep longer...

Most (but not all) regular dish soaps will tare through wax and ceramic coatings, so fine if you wax regularly, but that’s not the point of ceramic coating. Safest option is to use any generic car wash that’s makes some claim about being safe for wax. Or ask whoever applied yours what manufacturers coating they used, then see what that manufacturers recommends, if is another one of on their products, IMO it’s probably overpriced so ignore it and go back to generic car cleaner.
