I decided to debadge my truck this afternoon. I know it's been covered multiple times before, but most of the threads I've seen here on TW are for newer trucks. Mine's a 2005, so I was a little worried about paint fade and having a ghost image left over. I got all the badges off, peeled as much as the old adhesive off as I could with my fingers, then hit the rest with goo-gone. Took a little work, but I was able to get everything clean, and as far as I can tell there's no ghosting. I took a few pics after I was done. It's kinda overcast out so the lighting isn't great, but whatever. I'll be painting the tacoma emblems black tonight and then re-install tomorrow. Will definitely be doing the fronts, but I'm not sure about the tailgate. I'm kinda liking the clean look of it empty. Anyway, here's the pics :D

clean look in the back looks good. What did you used to take them off the truck? I want to this mod also. Thanks!

What did you use to take them off? I had a hell of a time, I ended up only doing the tailgate, cut tacoma into "taco" and painted it black. Post pics after the re-install, i have a feeling i'll be inspired to do the rest. ;)

I heated them up with a hairdryer then used some fishing line and sawed back and forth behind the emblems. I'm not even sure heating them up helped any, but I guess it can't hurt it either. I'll post up some pics tomorrow after I get the painted badges back on.
