Yeah, I've been reading on that particular one and I've read nothing but good stuff. I've just never dealt with compound or polish before so I'm skeptical

Considering how much some polishes darken paint, a simple polish of the whole panel might make a difference in evening out the appearance of the badge shadows. Follow with a Highly reflective paint sealer (menzerna power lock, Megs ultimate liquid, etc).

I'd stay away from compound. I would guess the fading is in the basecoat and not the clear coat. So, Abrading clear might not even solve the problem. You could be left with a thinner clear coat as well as badge shadows.

My taco is silver, would that make it easier or more difficult to get rid of?

I don't think the color impacts the silhouette problem.

However, silver is one of the more forgiving colors when it comes to polishing and keeping clean.

    Where are you located?

You start with the least abrasive product first. And if that doesn't do the trick then you step down to the next product whether it be a scratch remover, etc. Base coat doesn't fade. It's in the clear. The paint under the badge has been protected from the elements since day one. The rest of the vehicle has not. Application by machine is best. If you have a PC7424 DA or similar this is what you want to use. If not, it is a good investment. Or see if a buddy has one. Watch videos. Also, WD40 works better than Goo Gone when it comes to removing badge adhesive.

Try a hair dryer to soften the glue and a little gasoline to remove the glue and then follow up with some soapy water and a little wax
