Removed the badges from my tailgate today and my paint seems to be pretty well intact and matches the paint underneath the badges, but have these pesky lines from around the badges. Any advice on how to get rid of these or am I screwed?20160229_195830.jpg

Be extra careful with the heat.

No luck with heat. These seem like scratches into the paint :annoyed:

Maybe polishing compound or something in that manner?

Looks more like dirt and road grime buildup than scratches. A good rubbing compound should take most, if not all of it off. Hopefully there isn't a paint color difference.

Im thinking about debadging my 2015 this weekend. Is this a common thing if its been cleaned and waxed regularly?

Just some dumb regular crap everyone else has
Looks almost as if your tailgate was either re-painted or re-clear coated with the emblems in place. I've taken emblems off of my 2006 Tacoma that was 6 years old and there was no residue once I cleaned it, looked perfect. Something doesn't look right with yours, looks more than just residue or scratches. Just my opinion though, what do I know.

Before you get into the claybar and polishing try spraying wd40 on it. Or on a rag and hold the rag over the marks. After a minute or two try rubbing it off with your finger nail. That's what worked for me.

I agree, soak it with WD-40 real good see if it is adhesive residue...

It's not gonna come off. Betting the clearcoat is etched. (seen it before)

Sorry, but the emblem was in place too long.

OP, hope you can post pics proving me wrong!

6 year old paint, should've left them on IMO.

    Hope it works out otherwise.

I did my 2013 after 2 years after having it waxed and cleaned on a regular basis. Just took time and elbow grease but it all came off. Looked like it was never there till I rebadged it again. You should be fine.
