man i still see my ghost images and pin stripes after years lol done goo gone wax a lot of stuff never tried the sanding method though.

Careful with goo-gone guys, it can dissolve clearcoat as its not exactly ph neutral.
Best thing to use is denatured alcohol. That's the softest liquid to remove any adhesive layer.

Next best thing is wet sanding and waxing, only if there are scratches etched into paint. Its intimidating, but all wet sanding does is remove clear to level out scratches.

Not sure how to address the ghost images as thats uv damage. Perhaps a real good buff, wax and polish? Have to console the show quality paint restoring experts

 

Not to beat a dead horse but IMHO Wet sanding should be the last resort. Very good advice was given above on how to wetsand if needs be but before doing so I would highly recommend trying to correct the paint with a machine, the appropriate product and appropriate pad. Let the machine and product do the work. If there is still issues that the machine cannot correct then wet sanding would then be the next step.
