Hey everyone, it's been awhile since i've been on here. I am pretty close to pulling the trigger on a new 2017 taco. I have owned a lot of toyota's over the years... So I assume these new ones are no different. I have yet to test drive one, but went to a dealership and tried to order one 5 days ago and in 2 days I am suppose to return back to the dealership to follow through. He didn't really like what I was ordering/ I feel like he knew he couldn't b.s me since I knew msrp was under 25k and I wasn't wanting a 40k mall crawler pretty boy sissy truck so he wont make very much money in a sale. So he took my name and number and told me to return in a week... Seems odd.

I am a rare breed... I prefer the sr access cab no fancy nothing- the no back seats version, with a 2.7l 4 cylinder (its proven) And all of the classic toyotas that run forever ive had, had manual transmissions regular cabs/ king cab and always 4 cylinders. I will take this in the woods and play around with it put dead animals in the bed/ get it muddy scratched etc. And I am not going to spend over $30,000 for a new or used pickup truck. I refuse it, no matter how cool the raptors are it is a bad way to spend money and not worth it. I can buy an arb airlocker for less than the "crawl control" junk and have it perform 2,000% better... MSRP for an sr 4cyl 5 speed 4x4 is right under $25,000 after shipping and handling fees. Is it possible to haggle the price even more? I live in washington state and these trucks used with 100k are only 5 grand less than a new one, or even more expensive than new very stupid. I am unable to buy a 2015 for less than a new one, it is absolutely crazy. Some of you who baby your trucks might think it sounds crazy to buy a new one and scratch it in the woods but used are the same price as new, and I am not buying something with a lot of miles- im not a kid anymore.

I don't care about fuel economy or power. These sr access cabs with the 2.7l manual trans are the last of the "real" toyotas. I have a big bad diesel already so if I need to tow or whatever I have the truck i need already. This is going to be a work commuter and a weekend wheeler.

Are you guys happy with your purchases? I keep reading on how the brakes are weird, the trucks howl from control arm holes, the manuals dont have the trans issues, the 2.7l isnt new, its got drum brakes still, it is a pretty simple truck that should take a beating. for a very fair price.

Check out Nada.com and find out what the invoice price is, there is also a thread in the stickies that has this info. Invoice is what I would target. And if your local dealer won't do that, go online and start email other dealers, even if you will not travel to them. Then take this info back to your local dealership to see if they will play ball, if not then decide if a road trip is in order. 4 speed manual trans is what I traded in, I wish I could have kept it.

Very happy with my 2016, taking into consideration the price. 20k miles zero issues.
Mine is a work commuter/field support vehicle/weekend beach truck.

Check out the Utility Package option if you want to save some money & don't need rear seats.

How much did you guys pay out the door, more or less than msrp, and what was your financing/down payment... If you don't mind me asking. I know every state is different.

    Hell yes, love mine.

    SR w/ convenience package.

A.R.E. V-Series, FN-fx Pro wheels, 265/65R17 Cooper Discoverer AT3's, and I still average 25.7mpg during my daily commute on a warm day (no change from stock).

My MSRP was $27,200 ish, ended up paying about that OTD ... so you can definitely still haggle.

Excluding state sales tax, $24k and change out the door.

Edit: I bought mine from Ohio, prices wouldn't budge from full MSRP in the northeast where I live.

There is a "What did you pay" thread in this sub-forum.

$29,900 before TT&L, but mine is a DCSB SR5 4X4 with the V6 and Tow.

The 3.5L sucks to drive anyway IMO. Might as well settle for the 4 cylinders can't be any worse.

    Also ... roughly $7500 down, 2.5% @ 60mo ... about $tree-fiddy per month.

The 4 banger definitely doesn't have any of the 3.5's top end power, it's all low/midrange torque, this matched with the relaxed throttle mapping makes for a nice trail/beach truck.

Love mine. Utility package is great as I don't need the seats in the back and I prefer the fixed glass and matte black trim and the money savings were great. Did Moe's cruise and intermittent wiper mods. Of course I won't drive it in snow/salt because I don't want it to rust.

Excellent choice, IMO, 4cy MT will hold it's value and cost less to repair & maintain than virtually anything on the road today.

Don't sweat a couple of bucks on the purchase price. It's a solid bargain either way.

I do. You pretty much described my Tacoma, and I'm still happy with it after 6k miles.
Yes, you can haggle on the price. And get the best interest rate you can.

Possibly the most bad-ass looking 3rd gen I've seen on this forum. And it's a base model. :headbang:

    Hardcore off road floor mats!
'16 SR AC 4X4 5spd here! Love it. Haven't had any issues as far as brake or wind howling. I was thinking of getting the Utility package, but ended up getting the regular truck for not much more than a utility vehicle. I didn't get the 'Convience Package' either. So no key FOB. If I had to do it again, I probably would have.

$24,991 is what I paid for mine. Plus tax
