You are not; the National Guard is. They have already been mobilized. Do not resist.

THANKS! I am aware its not a big deal and it's not a crisis. Most vehicles I had before this I wouldn't have given a fuck and moved on, but I like my truck and want to keep it in decent shape at least until its paid off. If anything I was hoping for some good DIY input from you guys on how to patch it up so it doesn't rust and become worse than it is. Fucking hell.

Pick up a hammer and dolly, or a duck bill vice clamp and fixed in no time. Order paint online or dealer.

Back up, give us some perspective, can you see it standing up, or do you have to bend over to see it? Former, prep, bend metal and seal with primer and paint, if the latter, just paint it up.

I know how you feel, I was bitching about my wrecked tire a month or so ago..... these guys did you worse though, I got off light!

I'm tempted to make you feel better and post a pic of my busted tail light and nasty dent. Some dumbass backed into a yellow painted bollard when his wife was telling him what to do. It was lost in the weeds of course, but I can't use that excuse because the warning system was turned off. Just the way it goes. I'm not going to post a picture though, it's ugly, its stupid, and its my own damn fault.

On the plus side, I got some parts from Rock Auto and I now get to learn a skill I don't yet have, body work. It is without a doubt difficult to learn on a one off dent, but after all the pain and suffering I'll be pretty proud of the results. If that isn't polishing a turd of an attitude, I don't know what is!

I guess you can always give it a good coat of cosmoline if worried about rusting.

OP, it's a tuff crowd here on TW. What they want to see is the entire front end crushed with moose antlers sticking out (and no one hurt, of course). Anything short of that and you get what you have here now.

Like others said, use pliers/hammer to straighten the flange, and hit it with some paint. The pinch weld is pretty ugly to begin with, especially on lighter-colored trucks like silver. It's a semi-common mod to rattlecan the pinch weld black anyway: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/blacked-out-my-pinch-welds-this-afternoon.725853/

To reduce the likelihood of this happening again, get some XL mudflaps like RokBlokz.

You were all right. It was totaled. They flattened it like a pancake and gave me this as a replacement:
