Just solved my problem and wanted to share with you all.

I've used my Echo Mobile brake controller (like this https://www.curtmfg.com/part/51180) for over a year and it worked fine with a Honda Ridgeline and a Ford F250. But with my 21 Taco I couldn't get left blinker to work nor the brake engaging.

To debug I used voltmeter to check the right/left blinker pins on truck connector first (see connector flip cap for wiring diagram) and confirmed working, then plugged in controller and checked same pins on controller to verify left not pulsing. You'll see voltmeter switch from 12v to something close to zero every time the blinker should flash.

Called up Curt tech support and they recommended dielectric grease and that did the trick! So I first cleaned up controller pins with sandpaper, then some rubbing alcohol, then added the grease. And now it works.

Hope I can save someone some time in the future.
