My concern about putting actual gun decals on my truck is that someone might think there's one in there to steal

Actually like mesojdm said right the opposite. If you're going to break into a car or truck who would you think someone would most likely target?
Someone with a Stick figure family decal or Smith & Wesson? I know which one I would most likely not.....

If you're looking for a gun specifically, the guy with the gun decals. He or she is nowhere in sight

A friend of mine wanted to put an AR15 decal on my truck, said it would keep anyone from messing with it- I prefer to go incognito- sometimes too much information is not a good thing, IMHO.

I agree, the whole point is the element of surprise. In my state certain individuals push our open carry laws and that just doesn't make sense to me. Yes it's nice to have the right, and it is or should be our right, but if I'm casing a place, the guy with the gun on his hip is the first person I'm going for. Like I said, The element of surprise, that is all advantage.

My Wife and I had belong to the Ohio's for consealed carry organizations. But all they would keep doing at our annual meetings was push open carry. So My Wife and I just quietly bowed out and resigned. Although, it was cool last year because Hickok 45 was one of the guest speakers.

Actually, if you're going to break into a vehicle, you'd most likely do it when there's no-one around. That means the gun owner most likely isn't there. It's more of an advertisement than a deterrent- it's not like an ADP sign on the front lawn. Maybe it's just me...

    True a million times over.

Terroists organizations are even trained to take out immediately any "man" from around 13 years of age or older.

If you're open carrying on your hip you'd be the first they'd shoot at too.

Not to mention law enforcement wear ballistic vest at all times so they at least have a chance of return fire if fired upon first. Civilians typically don't.

The gun is never the deterrent, the (your) reaction is.
