Not really. Both stand for states' rights/smaller federal gov't.

No they don't. The Gadsden flag represents the united American colonies (as a whole rattlesnake) defending themselves against British occupation. I would go as far to say the Gadsden flag was and is a symbol of support for the federal government.

The Gadsden flag traces it's roots to this political cartoon (the first in the U.S.) by Ben Franklin.

The pieces of the snake represent the colonies (with abbreviations by each one).

The rebel flag does not represent unity between the states obviously.

Sometimes that is a fair point but when you go out of your way to make it a proper noun by capitalizing it I would think you would also follow through with correct spelling. Or you just like bliss o_O

Ok, states' rights wasn't the right choice of words. But the two flags do not necessarily have to contradict one another; there is a common element to both. Quoting from gadsdenandculpeper.com, "In modern times, the Gadsden “Don't Tread On Me” flag has become a symbol of both American Patriotism and as a symbol of disagreement with government policies."

In other words, I can be a patriot and display the Gadsden Flag without supporting most of the policies of today's federal government. Much of that sentiment is shared by people who fly the Rebel flag, even if most of them aren't using it correctly.

I don't see a problem with it as long as we aren't getting hostile, but ok.
