Maybe, but I suspect the cost vs flame thrower would make people choose flame thrower.

Skip it. Its one of those svc dept hi profit, low cost deals. If it were important at some point Toyota would really list it as a recommended service .

Not knocking the method of cleaning. Knocking the fact that it's carboning up bad enough to need this level of cleaning.

Service department at our dealer constantly recommended a cleaning of the HVAC system. They basically spray a cleaner on it to get rid of odors and mold. Took our truck in for its 10k and they recommended it already. What a scam, clearly people bit or they wouldn’t keep trying.

    OP, yes skip it.

This is another thing VWs are notorious for. The hvac system on VW grows mold in the winter time because part of it doesnt get used when the heater is on. So when spring rolls around it smells like rancid asshole when you turn on the AC.

The cleaning method is to start the car, turn on the ac at full on recirc. Then you put this little machine (its just a humidifier) with a special chemical stuff in it, it fogs the system and the hvac sucks it in and sends it all through the hvac system. It sucks because you have to do it every year, or start using your ac in the winter every once in a while to dry it out.

Yes; but all it does is knock carbon off the outside of the injector.
