This TSB involves a little more than just a rear axels. See the link I posted above.

    so:

    https://toyotatalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Tacoma-T-SB-0023-18.pdf
    was superseded by T-SB-0023-19

but i cannot find any mention of it anywhere. With that said, my truck is a TRD OFFROAD and the bulletin form 2018 says it applies to the diff in the non-TRD models.

well mine def has a shimmy like everyone else is experiencing.

I guess I just need to wait until the new tsb is available for us common folk to view and ssee what it says.

i have only experienced this once or twice today, but when i turn on the auto LSD, the vibe seems to not exist. I still need to go out and try/test again. I turned off vsc which turns on auto lsd. Need more stops to confirm either way. i am calling toyota to get a case going and will reference the new tsb we can't find.

So I've had something like this from new. It doesn't happen all of the time, but most of the time. If I brake moderately between 40-60 mph the truck shakes like crazy. Hard braking does not exhibit the problem. I replaced the front brakes and rotors (I had doubts that this was the issue. I couldn't feel it in the pedal or steering wheel). And it's still there. I do not have the OEM rear leafs, so it's probably not that. I had mostly decided that it was a front brake pad bed-in issue. I've tried to bed these things a bunch of times, but no joy. I was thinking about trying a different bed-in process with a different brand of pad and rotor. I haven't gotten that far yet. ECGS bushing replacement has been done as well.

I would take the truck in, but that would present all kinds of arguments. I've upgraded the rear brakes to disc, so no drums. It makes me wonder now if it's the axles. I could easily do it myself, but wondering what parts cost.

Duh!.......Wow, $350! Not sure I want to take that gamble just yet!

EDIT: Looks like the part number goes back pretty far in the Tacoma family. I'm a check out the aftermarket maybe.

so they applied the tsb to yours even though you don't have the bd20 diff? since you are a trd you don't have the bd20.

my vin falls in the range.

so is it the vin must be in range AND you have a bd20 meaning this doesn't apply to TRDs or does the vin take precedence?

I guess VIN takes precedence, idk? I wasn't even expecting this type of repair to happen, but they got on it like bees on honey, lol.

Edit: The latest TSB that I posted does not say "Non TRD model", so I guess it's VIN based now.

IDK, haven't picked up the truck yet. There was a delay in receiving parts so it got pushed to Friday. They gave me a 2018 SR5 DCLB which drives surprisingly smooth. I'll update when I get my Toy back.

But we (TRD owners) don't have the BD20 differential that is called out in the new or old TSB. I bet there was some overflow in terms of whoever made the non-TRD axles (bd20s) made our TRD axles or they share common parts that are bad. I am waiting on toyota to call me back and will reference the new tsb and my symptoms. Hoping they agree to swap axle out sooner rather than later. Mine was realyl vibing the other day after the dealer appointment but i was already almost back home- 19 miles away.

From what I could tell, the axle part number was the same for everything, but the off road and pro.

so i have an offroad TRD. the 2018 tsb says it applies to non-TRD models.

the one poster who is waiting for it to be fixed, owns a 2019 offroad- which is a TRD offroad- there is no such thing as a 2019 tacoma offroad, only tacoma offroad TRD- correct me if i am wrong though.

I am officially pissed! As of today it's been a week since I dropped off my truck at the dealership. I was suppose to be picking it up today with everything completed. I called yesterday to check on things and make sure that everything was on schedule, my SA was off so I spoke with another SA who spoke with the manager who asked me to come by the dealership for a test drive, what??? They wouldn't give me anymore details, so to the dealer I went. When I arrived one of their valet guys took me to the manager, who informed that they didn't perform TSB because they might've misdiagnosed it, really??? Apparently another tech drove it and didn't feel any vibration so he overrode first tech's decision. So my truck has been sitting there for a week and no one even bothered to call me and inform me that none of the issues are being addressed (rattling window, possibly leaking diff, TSB and 10k service) well technically they did the 10k oil change in a week worth of time, and for extra credits they effed-up my TRD skid plate! Whatever grease monkey worked on my truck, apparently removed the entire skid plate, probably dropped it and effed-up the paint on both upper corners! I mean how brain dead can one be not to know how to perform the simplest job in the trade. Toyota specifically designed a small removable section for oil changes, but noooo, they had to remove the whole thing and eff it up! Long story short, they gave me another tech who rode with me and noticed some vibrations, but now he is telling me it may possibly be the front rotors not the bearings or drive shaft. They want to resurface both rotors and see how it behaves. Honestly I don't even want them touching my truck anymore. If they can't do one simple oil change without "collateral damage" I can only imagine what they'll do replacing drivetrain components. I just left a message to my SA that I want them to stop whatever work they were planning on doing and return my truck and definitely pay for the damaged skid plate :annoyed:

Any idea what was over torqued? Mine does this slightly. I'd try to fix it myself if I knew which bolts it was.
