    Hey y'all.,

Any ideas for a DIYER who would like to be able to read, clear and diagnose check engine lights and other common codes?

If you have a smart phone I would get a BlueDriver.

They have good marketing, but it's not that special of a device. There are cheaper options if you just need to read codes, if you want to read ABS codes or other codes then you probably want to step up to a more full fledged scanner for about the same cost.
Something like this would be a better alternative that does not rely on your phone and a subscription - https://www.amazon.com/FOXWELL-NT630-Plus-Bi-Directional-Calibration/dp/B07CSMJJK9/

If you want a more full fledged scanner and are really digging into diagnostics something like this is better https://www.amazon.com/Autel-MaxiCOM-MK808-Diagnostic-Diagnosis/dp/B0744B55QV

IF YOU JUST NEED TO READ CODES - an ELM327 cant be beat. If you have an android you can get the cheaper bluetooth version, if you have an iPhone you need the wifi version. https://www.amazon.com/Wireless-WiFi-AUCARAUTO-Professional-Diagnostic/dp/B0B2WCMT5G

Those are just some quick examples I grabbed.

I use FIXD OBD2 Bluetooth scanner for iPhone. It can also show you live data while you’re driving. For example, I’ve been monitoring my coolant temps on long drives.

If you're into coding these guys are spectacular. Can't say enough about them and their products. Definitely a little overwhelming if that's not your thing, though.
