this is a fact, I know because I had this exact intake before and I could not believe how much black filth was inside the tube when I sold it. However, an upgraded filter would solve that issue.

It lets large items in your engine...like silica (sand).

They increase airflow by increasing the size of the filter media so bigger more dangerous stuff gets through.

I haven't ripped off the top end of my engine yet, but I believe my K&N had a part in blowing it up.

Didn't know this. Everyone on Amazon rated it so high.

    Thanks

    LOL..Amazon.

1/2 those nit wits rate the products before they even get them let alone wait 7 months to see how much shit their engine has ingested.

Stick to the small offroad shops for future purchases and support America. The small mom and pop shops know their shit unlike the idiots on Amazon.
Amazon is the #1 killer of small businesses in the country. /rant :D

I looked into the URD and it's interesting.. Looks like they sell AFE intakes as well. Thank you guys though for giving me a heads upon K&N.. I'll be switching to URD most likely.

K&N filters do well in applications where dust is not an issue like marine diesel engines. But on road or off road use no way. Your engine would be eating dust. They just do not filter well enough.

It's a shame, about the internet ratings.. i was sifting through the ratings and it seemed like the people reviewing the CAI really knew what they were talking about.. Seemed legit enough but I trust this community more, so it's a not go.
