Hello Tacoma World. I have been trying to decide between the Wheeler’s Multi-Leaf Add A Leaf Set – 1.5″ Lift 3 Leaf Progressive and Their Heavy duty version.

I have a regular cab 2001 2.7 4x4 truck with the 4 leaf pack including the overload. It has an ARE topper on it and I do a fair amount of towing/Hauling, some light off roading also.

Should I get the regular version or the heavy-duty version?
    Thanks,
    Charlie

if i had your truck i would go with a non HD set.. 4cyl reg cab is a light truck and the HD leafs will give it a harsh ride

Thanks for your input. During the winter the roads can be very rough and pot holed. Would the non HD soak up the bumps better than the HD one?
Also a rear plate bumper may be in my future.
    Thanks,
    Charlie

absolutely will.. but you already have a topper, and if you have a full time toolbox in there and a plate bumper etc. then the HDs wont ride all that bad. it just depends on you, do you mind a stiff ride? can you put up with a stiffer ride knowing that your towing and hauling purposes are going to be more comfortable and stable?

i have HDs but have always preferred a stiff ride with less body roll, and my off road application is mostly high speed where i don't need a lot of articulation.. however when i added a toolbox with 200lbs of gear and mounted a high lift jack it did make a difference.

its a trade off really, you just gotta know what you can and cant compromise on..

Topper alone warrants the HD AAL. Although with a rear plate bumper in your future a new leaf pack would be a better option.

anybody run the HD pack with the eibach/bilsteins lift? I was thinking about getting the 5100's all around and using the HD pack instead of the single AAL. I run a full time topper too along with light towing.

    UPDATE

I choose the HD version and I have been very pleased with their performance. They handle weight well and although the ride is stiffer it is also better.

I bought the HD's for my 99 ext cab and my 03 dc both v6. I think for the extra 10 bucks it's good piece of mind. Just my 2 cents
