That would be because the name of the company is aFe Power...

I don't know. I just went out and pulled mine out. Doesn't say any model number on it anywhere. There's a little A-03, but who knows what that refers to.

Maybe the instructions are generic. I honestly don't remember, I tossed mine after reading them. Maybe shoot aFe an E-Mail and ask if they have a way to identify it.

I have one, didn't keep the box, but assumed it said 'pro-dry' on the outside somewhere. Here's a photo of mine, before install:

The instructions specify occasional cleaning, but not using oil.

well, that sux for me :(

granted i only paid $45, but i was under the impression that it was the dry version

If the filter is blue (Pro5R) or gold (ProGuard7), then it is oiled. If the filter media is grayish white (Pro Dry S), then it not oiled. With conical filters, look at the top. If it has the "aFe" or "Pro Guard 7" logo printed on the end, then it is an oiled type filter. If the filter has Pro Dry – S printed, it is an oil-free filter. Their may also be a part number on the filter. look for a small circle plug on the urethane part of the filter. There will be a part number located on it. Any numbers with 10-, 30-, 24- are Pro 5R, 11-, 31, 21- are Pro Dry S and any filter number beginning in 7 will be a Pro Guard 7 air filter. If you have further questions, please call us directly at 951-493-7155 and we can help you figure out the filter.

No, it's not. My filter is grayish-white. The rubber part is black.

Well, the ad you linked to said it was, so you paid for something you didn't get.

Were it me, I'd contact the seller for a refund. $45 is only $15 short of the filter you actually want.

No, you knew what you were buying based on the seller's ad. You received something other than what was advertised. That's clearly not your fault.

I haven't had mine long enough to need cleaning...but in the kitchen sink with soap and then air dry is my plan.

Same here, haven't had it long enough. Still looks brand new. I still have the instructions that came with it, and there are 3 options for cleaning:

Repeated many times : "NEVER OIL YOUR PRO DRY S FILTER"

1 - 85% clean - Tap it several time until visible debris is gone

    2 - 96% clean - use a vacuum

    3 - 100% clean - wash with water
    - run water 'from inside out', let dry for a few hours.
[ I wouldn't wash it with a garden hose, though, since it might be too forceful and damage the filtering material. Kitchen sink would be better, me thinks. ]

For step 3, if there is "grease or road grime", then it says you can soak it in warm water, with a little mild liquid detergent. Then rinse clean.

I haven't done the deck plate mod yet to the new Taco, but when I bought the Pro Dry filter from Amazon, in the "people who bought this also bought" section was a 4" deck-plate. I wonder how many people (non toyota owners) wonder about combination
