    I drive 6 months out of the year in snow/freezing conditions so could the snow and constant freezing and unfreezing cause any damage to the airbox/engine if i do the deckplate mod?

    Thats what I thought.
    It appears the only thing of that nature is to do the TRD CAI sold through the dealer.... BUT it says clearly it may cause a warranty issue right there on the part screen.

    Is the 2RZ-FE airbox the same as the 3RZ-FE one?

    if so than i can get you a picture, because i did the deckplate to mine. Its a really easy mod and you can tell the difference.

    hmm... well i fit a 4" plate in my box with little difficulty. worst case, id say just throw a 3" one in there.

    but i would recommend it to anyone. even the 2RZ-FE guys.

    I think what you were remembering Chris saying didn't do anything is the removal of the secondary carbon air filter.

    Do you just use a hole saw to cut it out? I guess I need the 3 inch plate. Im thinking about doing this myself..i have a 2.7 liter 96.

    A 4" will fit fine. I used a Dremmel tool to cut it out for my 2000 2.7

    No place to install the deck plate on the 4.0. FWIW, most CAI's give NO gain on the 4.0. Only the URD and the TRD intakes have shown any gain, and the TRD only gave a few hp. Something to think about before dropping alot of cash.
