    That's really nice!

Also, OP, a decked system weighs 240-270 pounds. To me that's crazy heavy.

A friend is gonna help me start building a basic 2 drawer set up. He has one in his Silverado and wants to try version 2.0 in my truck. Nothing fancy but similar to what @jbrandt was saying. Just a box with a middle wall and two drawers. Will build out the platform all the way to the edges with some compartments as well. Should be sweet!

Check out UHMW tape or thin UHMW strips for your drawers to run on to reduce friction. I used that and it worked really well. My 3rd platform was aluminum with wood drawers. The AL was smooth enough I didn't need anything to reduce friction. You might not even need it but just a thought.

I really wanted to try and replicate your metal drawer build but need to use up my scrap play wood and save some $ since I just dumped a bunch outfitting this truck recently.

Yeah, that thing was like $450! I probably paid too much for the AL and if you already have the plywood I'd say that's the way to go.

Here’s is the progress so far on my drawer system. Still a ways to go but it is functional.

    Looking good!

If you haven't already, I'd suggest getting some metal corner bracing installed, too. Just to help keep everything square while it's getting bounced around back there.

Are you going to do some hinged pockets on the sides?

I appreciate the advice. I’ll look into it. We are doing side cubbies. Haven’t decided on hinges or just lift off tops. Trying to keep it simple and maximize space. Need to decide what to cover it in and I’m thinking of bed liner for inside the drawers.

oooh, that's no a bad idea! That would keep any potential spilled fluids contained.

I've seen a few people using piano hinges. You could use some of those drawer magnets to keep the lids in place if you don't end up using a hinge.

Bed liner sounds like a great idea! You could put a drain in it the bottom for cleaning. Or a drain for draining water for ice to keep your beer cold.

I saw a YouTube video on a custom drawer set today and thought of you & this thread. It's probably as close as you'll get to step-by-step instructions.

Here is what I ended up with. Need some finishing touches but you can see the structure.
