For those with a Decked drawer system how much effort and time is involved to temporarily remove it and reinstall it. I assume it's a two person lift without some rack to slide it out onto.

Just thinking if I get it and need the full bed for some purpose what I am getting myself into.

I plan to reach out to Decked but real world user opinions are more important to me.

15 or so minutes. Less if you have a friend.

    1. Unbolt the top.
    2. Remove the drawer(s).
    3. Unbolt the four corners.
    4. Lift it up over the wheel wells (if you have a 6' bed) and pull it out.

That's probably even easier. I just leaned mine up against a wall for storage when it was removed.

Note: Selling mine is a bit of a regret. I'll probably get the new one with the big drawer and cab-side cubbies if/when I get a shell again (or fab a cage-style bedrack).

The new style looks to be a more useful design

Agreed. A little lighter with less lost volume.

Got a pretty quick reply from Decked saying about an hour to remove with a helper to lift it out. Seems like a very long estimate

So what is a realistic time to remove use the truck and then to reinstall it? I am surprised at the manufacturer saying an hour

I could totally see it being an hour if you were fully disassembling it solo and using hand tools. What I did was maybe a third of that, I was using an electric socket driver, and I had help so that I was able to move the "frame" out in one piece instead of disassembling it.

That is what I am asking and maybe didn't ask well. The idea was minimum to get it out to reinstall in a day or two and not to completely disassemble

i guess it would depend on your level of experience and choice of tools. i used an electric impact to zip everything off. it would take some time to use a ratchet and undo all the bolts by hand. ive got the decked, diamondback, softopper and a bed rack. i am always changing things up, weather it be out of boredom or necessity. i would say 1 hour max for one person using hand tools to get it out and an hour to get it back in. i like to use the decked with the softopper. i cant remember a time that i had to remove the decked to haul anything. what ever you want to put in the bed you can put on the decked.
