but, this thread is worthless without pictures. Kinda like someone asking if the rust on his frame is bad and not sharing a picture of the rust. Sure, we've all know what rusts looks like but when they ask how bad it is how the hell would we know without seeing it... we're not mind readers. Please don't be offended... people are just trying to help you.

At another job a lifetime ago there was a crazy woman who you could not hold the door open for. She would stare at you like she wanted to kill you just for holding the door open. She also freaked out if you accidentally walked within 20 ft of her behind her.

Some people are just crazy and non-sensical.

I'm going with this interpretation instead.

The fix is Neosporin and not wheeling with the windows down.

I too learned the hard way about leaving the window down, and elbow out the window... no scratches though. Just really bad bruising and a dent running down the side of my truck...

NuSkin, though it will sting like the devil first application. Should heal twice as fast as "try not o touch".

OK - you got me - it didn't happen. I just posted this thread to get attention - I don't even have a Taco . . . I have a Prius with a COEXSIST sticker
But my friend has a Taco and did get some deep scratches knocking around in the Maritime Forrest in the Outter Banks - he just got back from OBX and started working on them
Oh and here are some pics.
Close up - otherwise not sure you can tell
    [IMG]
before buffing (still have more to do but the battery needs re-charging)
after buffing a few time - before battery ran out
    [IMG]
what I have used to buff them out
    [IMG]

I looked around the internet and found that to really get out deep scratches takes a professional or someone who really knows what they are doing.
However you can compound out scratches that haven't gotten down to the bare metal pretty easily. The deep scratches you can compound them somewhat so they are almost not noticeable. I've gotten a good start on the worst ones - if you don't know where to look you may not notice them, we will see how that works out in different light conditions. This is the best advice I have found from looking around at different sites on the internet and is working for me. First, a drill (to use to put the buffing disk on) and some good scratch compound is a start. "They" advise using the drill at medium speed - I found on my DeWalt set at 10 (15 being max) works best. After applying the compound straight on I found using the edge of the wheel is most effective.

I am not going for perfect as I don't care too much as this truck is on the trail and beach a lot so I really do expect some scrapes and scratches.

I don't want to start another s**t throwing contest but I am not a particularly good photographer and I honestly really don't think pics by an amateur can really show the scratch damage very well if at all - but I tried.

pretty much the process, just need to follow it up with your favorite wax product. buffing is like using brake cleaner on your hands to remove oil. it works, but has some long term care effects.

If you took that little graphic as an insult, you’re really thin skinned and/or haven’t spent any time in the forum. It translates to, “we can’t provide helpful comments without photos”. Used all the time and no one ever takes offense.

Does black have a clear coat?

Paints on these tacos are thin... so go easy.

It seems you are getting there.
