Set your air ventilation to recirculate. If not, water that may splash up on to your hood and windshield will flow down through your cabin air filter and drain onto you floor board.

Did this happen to you? That area is called the cowl btw. If water is going in there you are at danger of hydro lock... It's higher than your intake

No. This did not happen to me. I saw it in a video and simply wanted to share the information with everyone. The vehicle in the video was not submerged to that level but instead had a wall of water splash up onto the cowl which then drained down through the cabin air filter. They indicated had the air circulation been set to recirculating this wouldn’t have happened.

    That's just crazy talk. :cookiemonster:

My cutoff for cross/no-cross is anything that touches the wheel hubs. Way, way before airbox, cab or cowl. I learned the hard way that water fucks up a lot of things, and the damage isn't always immediate.

My cutoff is bottom of body and that requires super slow speed.
@mquibble for the people who splash water over their hood in a water crossing? Those people couldn't care less if water gets on their floor.
Water crossings, at least for me, are emergency only because water makes vehicles do weird shit.

once water gets to your air intake (low tube on air box) your motor becomes a vacuum. whatever happens up to that point, and after... is on YOU. Ski

I used to mud the Tacomas, long before the intake, is the bottom of the seats. Once the water is that deep inside the truck, well you’re fucked. Guess who found this out for you guys and gals, yeah it was in my second gen Tacomas, but the sensors and wiring connections that get wet at that point shuts the whole party down.
