I wondered how mfgs were going to accommodate that '16 grille...they apparently are just going to go in front of it and cover the bottom...I wonder how much that thing is going to weigh?

Well, look at the platform they have to work from. That's not their fault.

The ARB does great for deer. I live in NW Pennsylvania and I have one on my first gen. I hit two deer at once the first time. Deer #1 head on and deer #2 clipped the driver side. No damage then a few month later another head on. 60mph and 40-45mph respectively. These bumpers are designed to suck the animal under the vehicle during a head on and that they do. Obviously the draw back is they make a very heavy bumper but they are extremely well built. I feel like most plate bumpers would do a similar job.

There are plenty of other options for bumpers that aren't so grotesque.

The third gen is not any worse looking than any other Tacoma. It's not like any of them would win a beauty contest. If that's what you're concerned about then maybe a Tacoma isn't for you... I know I bought it for the reliability, smaller size than a full size, lower cost, and off road capability. It looks fine to me, and is more comfortable than any of the earlier Tacomas. I'm not exactly sure what you expect out of a truck, but this one more than meets my needs.

Plenty of other bumper options that aren't as hideous as the ARB. Most of the hybrid bumpers are around 75lbs and full plate bumpers around 100lbs. The ARB is probably heavier than the normal plate bumper though.

Covered in stickers and chrome stick-ons for extra horse torques and foot powers. Icon sticker gets me tons of travel, dozens of milimeters.
That's gonna crush the front end on impact. There's no upper supports on that thing. It's a brush guard to keep trees and shit off your front end. If you tied the top end into an engine cage? Maybe.

Silver "vents" from Autozone are popular in California, doesn't make them functional.

To be fair, it's very similar design to all the other ARB bumpers. They design to provide maximum protection to the front end, I think someone specifically said it helps with smashing roo's, which isn't necessarily the same thing as maximum clearance like some of the plate bumpers that are designed for rock crawling. The unfortunate thing is this style of bumper just looks terrible on the 3rd gen, even if it is a good solid design for protection.

Regardless of functionality, it's still ugly as hell.

Might be a real issue in Australia.

I actually like the ARB bumper. Looks good IMO.
