    K-K-KILL-CONFIRMED!

No experience dealing with insurance in this instance, but I know it's good you actually hit it vs swerving and rolling or hitting a tree.

Out of curiousity, did you have deer whistles installed?

What exactly is your question? Call your insurance company and tell them you hit a deer. It's a pretty simple process.

I had one hit my truck one time. It was claimed under comprehensive deductible. That looks around $6500 damage. Just guess. Maybe more.

Yeah I for sure want to. I need everything fixed tho and then I will make the purchase I think. Not sure about getting paid out right and then using money for steel bumper and repairs. Rather pay deductible (500) have it fixed like new and then invest in a a steel bumper.

Yeah thanks man. I've done that and I'm taking it to the body shop tomorrow. Progressive rep should look at it in the next couple of days.

This is more what I'm asking. Just want to make sure it can be fixed like new. The body shop doing the work if top notch. Just don't want any fuckery from progressive. I will not be able to be there when the adjuster is looking it over.

    Thanks all for the replies.

When I hit a deer it was considered an act of nature. No deductible and no negative consequences like increased premiums.

I also filed with the police. Not sure if that's normal, it seemed like the thing to do. :notsure:

I mean I called progressive the next morning (happened around midnight) and told them exactly what happened. Are you asking if I filed with the police?

Yes. But if insurance was ok with it. Doesn't matter.

Google them for a quote, but they basically look like little megaphones that are supposed to produce a high pitched whistle inaudible to the human ear when druving faster than 35mph or so. The idea is that the frequency startles deer into running away from the road before they hear your truck or see your headlights.

It seems to be 50/50 wether or not people belive they work, I threw them on my truck as cheap insurance, my g-paps was a game warden for years and years had them on his patrol car and on his personal truck, he's about the only family member I have who hasn't struck a deer at some point in their lives. Luck, blessing, whistles, who knows? Like I said cheep insurance and when installed inside the grille they aren't even noticeable so meh. YMMV.

Where in CO were you when you hit the deer? My wife has hit 2 - but that was when we were living up in the mountains. No instances since moving to Springs, knock on wood.

BTW I used to be a claims adjuster - PM me if you need help or have specific questions.
