The hunting club I grew up in had power but no running water. We had a hand dug well 100' deep with a pulley system, bucket on each end. The water was yellow and we would boil it to wash dishes in. No one drank it and we didn't bath for a week at a time. My mom would write my brother and I a note saying we had the flu is why we missed school so we could go hunt with dad.

The bathroom was an old outbuilding with a hole dug and a make shift toilet seat attached to some lumber and beside it was a bag of lime.

We had a wood cook stove in the kitchen, my dad and another guy would get up about 3:30 in the morning and start cooking breakfast. There was a wood stove in the den that heated that and if you were lucky some of the heat went upstairs.

The house was built in the late 1800's and had no insulation and you could hear the rats in the walls at night. We would set mouse traps and you'd hear them trip but never caught anything, they were to big.

Cell phones weren't a thing then, we had to drive 15 minutes to use a pay phone to call home or check a deer in at that store.

Some of the guys had CB's in there vehicles amped up and could talk to their wife at home on the base station. (an hour+ away)

It's a wonder any of us ever killed a deer with the smell of the wood burning and everything frying in the house, lot of fun though.

God I’ve spent so many nights when I was guiding with a tent set up like that. It gives me so much anxiety :rofl:enough that I switched to year round hammock sleeping. Would wrap myself in plastic in the winter to stay warm

The boys give me hell sometimes. our goal is 130” on the lease. thats alot of buck for our area. most killed are in the mid 120’s. but i use the scoring system from this thread. LOL.so sometimes im alittle off but close enough. my oldest skull mounted one from this year.he scored it but i think
he was a little generous to him self. [IMG_2675.jpg ATTACH=full]5917770[/ATTACH]

The TW scoring system is legit, it should be adopted right beside B & C and Pope & Young

Using our sytem, I've killed deer bigger than people paying tens of thousands of dollars and I've spent, a lot.

Wow. Just wow. Did he jump out of the tree and murder the deer with the knife?
