Deer hunting BS thread

sorry. I've dropped my bow out of the tree before. Just the was you said it had me laughing

 

so i guess you got to climb your tree twice today, huh?

 

lol or which happened to me for the first time this past weekend, my f'ing pull up rope get's hung on a stump or branch on the way pulling it up and knowing in your mind the only way to get it un tangled is to climb all the way back down and undo it. Not away to start a morning hunt lol

 

dropped my muzzleloader outta the tree a couple weeks back.. i stand it up between my legs when im huntin, leaned to the side to stretch my back and it went straight down between the slits in the stand floor. talk about scared! i thought i was fixin get a sabot in the ass. climbed down to get it, it had cocked when it hit the ground but didnt fire thankfully. that was one of those o shit moments with nowhere to go.

 

I've got a gun rack on my stand. I just tie it down on the way up and untie it when I get sat down. I did get about 30 feet up one time and started to untie it and realized the gun was still propped up on the tree on the ground. I even tied my string like I was tying it up. 6 am is too early for me to function apparently

 

I would've jumped! I hunt out of a summit viper so I have an armrest all the way around. Lay it across that or screw in a hook and hang it

 

Haha I hate that. What I hate even more though is when you get all situated up in the stand and then look on the ground and see the blue pad for your thermocell on the ground

 

I carry spares in my fannypack. And usually don't get mine out until I'm in my stand and everything else is setup

 

thats the same stand i have, its sat there fine for the 3 years ive had it, it just happened to slide through the bottom. that 20 ft drop was like time stood still. i tried to grab the barrel as it slid through but i was to slow. all i could think was if i get shot im fucked cuz i was hunting alone and theres no cell signal there. still freaks me out thinkin about how the gun cocked when it hit but didnt go off

 

I rarely use mine when I have a rifle or muzzleloader. Usually only have my bow when I'm in my stand

 

summit viper = best damn climber in the woods ( and most comfortable) no telling how many times i've dozed off in mine lol

 

I nap almost every time I'm in mine. I need the aluminum version though

 

I like to crank it up before so it starts workin faster

 

Good idea. It's late enough now that we shouldn't have to worry about bugs. Had a couple dog pecker flies and skeeters after me last weekend. Face net FTW!

 

Haha y'all don't have to worry about it. But they are still out like crazy here. I think the most annoying part about bugs is when they are buzzing near my eyes

 

My ears. I get pissed when I can't hear

 

It's so annoying. I'm hoping to cut out of work a little early and head to the stand

 

Got in the stand about 40 minutes ago. Jumped up 4 does on the way. Sittin with the bow tonight

 

I been sittin pretty regularly for about a month and a half now..jumped 3 deer on the way in, seen a nice 6 come in to me, stand behind a tree with no shot..thats all i seen..i dont understand whats goin on.

 

Just sat down about 5 minutes ago. Waitin on that big doe to walk back out this evenin and give me a second chance.
