Less meat on the bones. Biggest doe I've ever shot around here was +/- 130lbs. :notsure:

    That spread!

Is the spread on a rack considered deer cleavage?

No antlers, but you can’t eat those and there’s still more than 2 months to get the big boy that came sauntering past (albeit in cover) before I shot her at last light.

Actually it was a double lung shot. Went through her right shoulder, partially severing it and into her other shoulder.

Arrow came back out after hitting bone the second time and barely any blood trail. She dropped within about 75 yards but it was a bitch finding her in the dark. I saw where she went into the woods so I started sweeping that area with my light and finally picked up a trail. She bled out internally mostly, bleeding out her nose and mouth. That’s what got on her neck when I loaded her onto the truck.

Yup. I’ve already done some quality control testing.

Drop in their tracks and less wasted meat from the shoulder

I don't do neck roasts and most of my deer are 90lb-120lb Doe in South Texas. I take a mid-high neck shot with a 7mm-08. Drops the deer with minimal wasted meat. The necks all get ground.

See, and I aim to powder the lungs because I don't eat those, but I like a good neck roast

Yeah...I’m not aiming for a deers neck with my bow.

And Considering I don’t know who eats ribs, lung, and heart... how would a heart lung shot ruin any meat?

A neck shot is too much risk.

Plus the animal typically goes down from the spinal shock... not necessarily from death.
I’ve had animals get up and run off on my from shots close to the spine.

I used to eat the hearts (nice and sweet!) but stopped after I switched from a shotgun to a rifle.
