some places have smaller deer also. I hunted on a small lease in TX and the guy wanted you to park inside the gate...well the gate was tied to a fence post and made so much racket anything within the lease property took off. I did shoot my first turkey there but didnt see any deer on the property even though there were tons of tracks.

Damn, I forget how short and early the season is in Cali.

Yep I hunt in unit A it has the longest rifle season of all the units but it starts the second Saturday in August and goes for 6 weeks. Nothing says deer season like pushing the brush when it’s 85° at dawn and 110° by 1:00 and if you shoot something it’s a mad dash to town to get it to the butcher and in a meat locker.

well nothing of significance on my lower cameras some doe, moose, and some elk from around the 15th Oct. Had one spike, maybe a late one from last year as its really small this year. One camera by my house has been empty. Weather has been bad but I think the bucks are chasing as I havent seen any during evening in the last few days. I'd like to see a nice buck within shooting range ;)

It’s usually into the 60’s here at the beginning of youth season (started 2 weeks ago) and then we go to bow, then primitive weapon (one week each) and then starts fun without dogs, after a few weeks dogs are allowed, and then gun season runs through January, last day of all season is the first Saturday of February (if I remember correctly) with a 1 week primitive weapon and then one week bow to close out season.

Well opening weekend was a bust for me. Shot a doe Saturday evening with my AR and made a bad shot. Gut shot and not much blood. Tracked her for 2 hours and lost the trail about 250 yards in. First deer I've lost and I feel terrible. I was not 100% confident in the ammo I was using due to bad group sizes at 100 yards so I should have taken that as a clear sign to leave that gun at home and tote the trusty 308. Anyways saw plenty of deer, including a nice mature 8 point. Hopeful for the rest of the season. Picture for attention.

Had three nice bucks in shooting range today. Of course not a single cow elk. ‍♂️

That's what I did for my next sit. I had my 308 with me just in case. I need to find some ammo that the gun likes better.

    Nice timber deer :)
How’s the rut coming along on your side of the mountain? I’ve taken next week off to do some bow hunting, hoping they’re moving better than they are now lol

Here to represent North ARK. My little brother went with my parents this last weekend as he is still good for youth, barely saw anything. We don't have many monsters down here besides one I've been chasing since I was 14. My mom's dad owns all the land we hunt on and he bought 3 brand new and VERY nice Redneck Blinds with 15 foot stands for us, insulated, tinted windows, sound deadening foam, you name it. If you ask me lots of money to spend for a non hunter but he loves us coming down. My mom purchased a little heater for herself and me and my father just collectively sighed.

Which area of N Ark? I have a small chunk of land in NE ARK in Randolph county. Lots of crop fields so I have some decent deer. Not monsters by any means but some decent 140-150 class deer come through when rut kicks in.

First buck was a Stag my buddy shot this year. Second is the buck I shot last year and the last is the buck my other buddy shot this year. I passed up a bunch of legal bucks and missed a big 3x2 at 320 yards.

Thanks. I have never seen a stag so it was really cool. I have the video of him shooting it but it wouldn’t let me upload it. The buck from last year was laying in the pasture with his back to me to me and I drive right up to him when I spotted him. I stopped about 60 yards away and shot him in the back of the head just below the left ear. DRT, he never got up and didn’t care that I was there. Probably my easiest day hunting.
