New York has some areas ( wildlife management units) that have antler restrictions. It should be state wide. Our soil here sucks so between that and guys shooting any buck they see the older class deer are few and far between . A 2.5 year old is a trophy in these parts .

It's all about the $$. (as you already know)
Another thing that I fail to understand; Illinois is shotgun only, I get that, whatever...but what I don't understand is the high fence game farms being able to use any type of weapon.o_O Also, they kinda set their own season dates.
    What am I missing here?

I don’t know much about the high fencers...That’s not hunting in my opinion. Most of the outfitters in my area are douche bags and are hard enough to deal with.

Not too many outfitters down here that I know of. Lots of land gets leased though.
When we started hunting in Illinois we had permission to hunt 3 or 4 small farms. Those guys have all passed away and there are very few smaller farms left. The big acreage farmers want (and get) a lot of money to lease it. That's why I switched to public.
That and the fact that if anyone asks me if I have permission to be here I can tell them to kiss my ass.

I'm not a big fan. I saw a zebra behind one of those fences last year. I can't see how shooting a zebra (or anything else) behind a fence can be a good time. Generally, if you can afford this hunt you can afford to go old school and go shoot one in Africa.

Agreed, I have hunted Audad and other exotics with my pistol. It was challenging. But still not the same as open land hunting.

This pic was 1 1/2 hours after we loaded the deer up.
After the short recovery, he was jumping around, saying "yes, yes, I got a 9 point"
He was super excited but everyone loses some enthusiasm after awhile, especially in front of other people that he didn't know.

A little nitrogen and 2.5" of rain was just what these fields needed this week. That cover crop had some oat, radish, clover, and some other grain kinda like wheat or barley (I think that is what the tall grass is, I dug up one root but couldnt tell if it was the oat or the other after it had split open)... Not bad for being in a bag 7 days ago tho.

We had some AMS bags that were busted at work. Its 21-00-00 and its water soluble; its made to mix with round-up and spray so the plant grows faster (so it dies faster because thats how RU works) but no just stirred it in with the seed and broadcast it all out by hand. The soybeans that were already there put a little nitrogen in the ground too since they are legumes so it should have a nice head start... At least some good tender stuff is up now and maybe we can hold these deer for another month or so
